indicator not flashing when lock/unlock
The flash did not happen since last week when pressing the remote to lock or unlock car, although you can see and hear the central locking. Not sure if it relates to the recent activation of the day time running light. I have since deactivated the DRL but still no flashing.
Is there any way to adjust the setting to make the indicator flash again? |

Yep. iDrive > Settings... I saw the option in there a couple of days ago. If you haven't got your manual to hand I'll pop out and see exactly where it's buried

My car does not have iDrive, form what I can see the only adjustment is via the OBC stalk but I did not see that option available from the menu.

If the car is set to 'flash' when setting the alarm, then if it doesn't it indicates the alarm is not set (even though the car will lock, the alarm may not be set)
i.e. a door / boot / bonnet is not shut properly or some other problem preventing arming of the alarm. I have a tourer and mine does it sometimes if the glass boot lid is not shut properly. |

I presume the car is set to flash when setting the alarm becuase there is no obvious way to adjust. I thought that if the big red light underneath the rear view mirror is flashing it mean the alarm is armed?
My touring also has the irritating babit of not closing properly (indicated by the C pillar mounted courtesy lights on both side remain on), resulted in re-closing the hatch several times until the light goes off, but it does not seem to affect the alarm function, assuming big red light flashing = alarm on. |

Definitely if a door is on the half catch or similar then the indicators don't flash, this often alerts me to the missus not shutting her door properly.
Not sure about the red light - will check. |

Hi mate, even if you dont have the idrive, you can set it up thru the BC switch in the indicator stalk. If you have the owners handbook then you can refer page 20 and 64 IIRC to see setting up the locking and unlocking of the car. There there is a icon which says flashing of the indicator lights for once when its locked and twice when unlocked.
Like others said once you have locked all the doors from outside its good to see all the doors and windows are locked. Yes one more thing is that when i picked my car as AUC, i had the problem with the second key not working and the dealer ordered one for me. So had to get the second key programmed. When i started using the second key i have noticed that the single click unlock for only the drivers door(which i set it in the first key) didnt work and had to be set up individually using the indicator stalk for the new key. Hence its worth checking its working the same way for all the keys as the settings are for each keys. Hope this helps...all the best |
