Can you stream music via Bluetooth?
Ok so when I have my phone connected Bluetooth and play a song on the phone I see a little sign on the top of my screen like a connecting simbol... So I figured there might be way to activate Bluetooth streaming music...

I bought a blackberry Bluetooth receiver, plugs into "aux" in armrest, works seamlessly. Auto connects, when I get a call it stops the music and puts the call throughout the stereo. I think it was 30.00 or so.
By the way, I have the iPhone, point being that ANY cell with Bluetooth will work with this, doesn't have to be blackberry.

I think i've succeeded accidentally doing this with my iphone over bluetooth. However, not purposely and the quality wasnt great. The quality sounded like it was playing from the external iphone speaker, but infact, over bluetooth through the car's speakers.

Handsfree Hack job
Would this work as a handsfree?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth-...00914014499%26 My Bluetooth has stopped working and a new ULF & recode will cost £250+ When i listen to music via audio jack from iPhone and a call comes in i can hear the person through the speakers. Just seeing if anyone would recommend this as a boj job fix? Obviously the phone would need to be near by for microphone to pick up sound. |

You do have other, much cheaper-than-a-mulf options though. Griffin makes the BlueTrip, which I wouldn't recommend unless you have the smoker's package with the lighter outlet right under the radio. If the lighter outlet is in the armrest, the mic won't be located well at all for calls. Belkin makes this, which is slightly cheaper and much better set up for E90s. The puck-shaped button/mic unit can be located anywhere, while power and aux plugs are in the armrest. I'm pretty sure the button on the belkin can also be used to activate Siri, so that's a major bonus. There are many newer threads on this to look for. Probably within the last 2-3 pages of this section, even.

No software update will offer than on a 2010. 2011.5 had the combox which can be retrofitted. Its easier/cheaper to buy a Blackberry Stereo Gateway, plug it into power and the aux in, and pair your phone.

Yeah basically you need to buy a refit box to enable which i guess can violate your warranty if you still have it. A cheaper option is just to buy a bluetooth streamer and plug it to the Aux input, but than if you pair to it you will not be able to use BMW Telephone BT integration since you can only use one Bluetooth at a time.
Another option is probably to get BMW to upgrade it, but i guess the cost is not worth it. |

I don't mean to wake a dead thread, but i'll do it anyway!
I have a 2011 335d, no nav, but it has the bluetooth. How do I know if this thing should be able to do bluetooth streaming audio? |

Probably does not. Isn't combox the bluetooth streaming and other options.
I got it by mistake once on my 2007 335i. Dropped phone call and music merrily playing away. Sounded crap though |

http://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Wirel.../dp/B00NMD4ZCQ A very late addition to this thread but if anyone's interested I just bought a couple of these (one for my E90 and one for the wife's Corsa) and am truly impressed with the way it all just works so well out of the box. The quality of the audio is also high (full stereo). An amazing product from the Chinese for once! The unit plugs into the cigarette lighter charger slot and the attached 3.5mm audio cable plugs into the AUX-in port, bothk under the arm rest. It also comes with a USB slot, so you're not giving up that charger slot! Simply pair your phone's "Media audio" to the unit and keep the "Call audio" paired with your car's own Bluetooth. Both connections stay alive! Then select Aux as the audio source via your CIC. Works perfectly with an Android phone (not sure if iPhones can maintain two separate Bluetooth connections) Cheap, simple and reliable. You can't go wrong and every BMW owner that is unable to pair media audio to the car's own Bluetooth should get one! Last edited by NadJ; 04-30-2015 at 02:49 PM.. |

Hi, bringing this up because this is the closest search to what I'm looking for info on.
I have a 135i 2012..no nav, but it does have the combox in the trunk along with bluetooth phone options, and the rest (aux, usb,cd,sirius, etc). Is there a way that I can get music to stream from my phone without having to use an aux cord bluetooth 3rd party thing? Thanks for any help in advance! |

Sure, it should work instantly. Just select luetooth Audio in your phone when you pairing it with a car. Otherwise it has to be coded or you dont have COMBOX.
