Went to the dyno again - GIAC Stage 2 and Stage 2 Race
Went to the dyno today to test GIAC Stage 2 Race map with methanol injection. Everything went flawless, as expected from GIAC and Aquamist. I have also tested the standard Stage 2 map with meth injection.
Mods: Wagner Intercooler, Macht Schnell 3" coated downpipes, BMW Performance Exhaust (no cats), Aquamist HFS-2 methanol injection, custom Mr.5-style intake. My observations: On the Stage 2 map, I got identical results with and without methanol injection. But the "without" test was done in the winter, methanol will probably help alot in the summer. Baseline: 249whp (on the same dyno). |

Nice numbers! Must be cool to drive. Now come over to the Nürburgring and give it something proper to do!

I really do think about coming to Nurburgring for a short vacation this summer, but I am afraid of possible track accidents...I have never been to a race track before. Is there a set of rules to be followed at Nurburgring published somewhere on the Internet ? |

If it's your first time, go there with someone who knows the track and can show you what to do, or do some "scenic" laps first to get to know the circuit a bit. Real knowledge starts at 50-100 laps only, anyway. It's probably easier to go there during the week when it's not as crowded as during the week-ends, but during the week the 'Ring is usually only open for two hours at the end of the day (the rest being mostly reserved for car industry testing and competition trainings). Would be cool to meet up - I'm just a good hour away from the 'Ring and go there quite frequently. Let me know when you'd like to come - I'm also organising a training on the 18th of July, if you're interested PM me. Sorry for the OT! Alpina_B3_Lux

Nice!!
I'm getting a GIAC stage 1 installed next tuesday. If I purchase Race gas and switch to the race gas map how much WHP and torque should I have? I believe GIAC and intake is about 330whp. How much more with race gas? |

BUT GIAC also has a Stage 1 Race map for race gas (or meth) which provides +67-70whp over stock (as opposed to 55-60 for the regular Stage 1 -at the same boost levels but higher timing advance) and I would highly recommend you to get the map switcher and the two maps (Stage 1 and Stage 1 Race) together. I don't know why I just know that GIAC makes less torque down low compared to piggybacks and I think it's by design, I know they tested their flash on multiple race cars and probably felt that this torque curve is the best. I surely hope this will save my clutch

Oh for sure! Thats what I mean. The Discount this month for GIAC includes a remote to switch from the various maps so I will be able to switch to the GIAC Race Map designed for 100+ octane. Good to know that I'll have an extra 10WHP just by switching and throwing in some more gas. Now, you mentioned Meth, would this mean a Meth kit? then run on the race map? |

By meth I mean a meth kit, yes. Methanol raises the octane rating of fuel and allows you to run the race map without having to buy expensive race gas. GIAC tested the Stage 2 Race with a 50/50 water/meth mixture and pump gas. I suppose they tested the Stage 1 Race maps in the same way. |
