Help me Pick summer tires

I know this has probably been done many many times and I apologize in advance

Im trying to decide on some new summers - I have winters so these would be strictly from Apr-Oct/Nov tires

For those that have switched from RFT to non-RFT - any regrets?

Right now Im leaning towards non-RFT because they are cheaper...

Michelin PS2
Conti Extreme Contract DW
Yokohama Neova AD08
Yokohama Advan sport

I'd like to stick to the bigger names (conti, mich, yoko, bridgestone, bfg) as I've had problems in the past (cracked sidewalls, bubbling etc) with other brands

It will be for my 330xi which is my daily driver (mix of city and freeway driving) and occasional trips (ottawa - TO, ottawa - montreal etc)

Conti's have been good (2nd Summer), don't personally like the RTF though.

I've used and know people who have used the Conti Extreme Contract DW with good results. I'm not a big Michelin fan and haven't used the Yokohama series, so can't really comment on those. Like much of the threads on the forum, it comes down to personal preference more than anything. I don't think you can go wrong with Continentals, but YMMV.

-Michelin PS2 - awesome street tire!!
-Conti Extreme Contract DW - haven't tried
-Yokohama Neova AD08 - very noisy, great traction
-Yokohama Advan sport - very similar to PS2s (haven't tried on my own, but my friend has a set and I just ordered a set)

I've also had (recently)
-Hankook RS2 (now replaced with RS3); don't let the brand deceive you, these are the best wet traction tires out there with very good dry traction as well; this makes it an awesome daily tire
-Dunlop Z1; many like it for the great traction...I found them too loud and stiff for Toronto roads
-RE760; great all round daily tire, quiet and good traction when warmed up...highest tread rating (compared to all of above)

and for sure nonRFT>RFT

Just put rfts in garage for lease return in 3 years and mounted conti dw. They seem fine so far. 19" and feel WAY smoother than RFT. I will not buy another BMW if they come with RFT. Ridiculous.

Haha I feel the same way! The RFT's pale in comparison to the non-rft I'm running now.

OP: I'm running 19" Hankook Ventus and they have been outstanding so far. Better than the Pzero's I ran prior.

PS/2s are awesome. Totally transformed my E90 330i when I switched from Potenzas to PS/2s.

IIRC, I've read a mag where they rated Nexxen winters better than X-Ice in every aspect....I flipped a few pages and there was a 2 page Nexxen ad

I went with the new MIchelin Pilot super sport...the replacement for ps2

thing about ps2 is they are being phased out, and if you need to replace just one...more likely to find a pilot super sport than a ps2 a couple years down the road
