Calling All Tuners
As I'm new to the tuning scene I have some basic questions that I have not been able to find straight awnsers to via searching ETC
Lets take a look at your simple bolt ons. Down pipe, Exhaust, Intercooler, DCI By them selves I understand they don't give nearly as much HP as quoted on the site, however once the vehicle is tuned Ie GIAC / Vishnu / JB, those bolt ons start showing better HP Gains. For example, AFE CAI I have heard runs about 30BHP, an Intercooler runs about 25BHP, DP runs about 20 - 30 BHP, exhaust 10bhp give or take. Now if this is the case how come it is not linear, Ie you have a vishnu tune which makes your car 380bhp, you add a CAI you should get 410hp, then you add an intercooler and vuala you have 430 - 440 hp, then you add DP and you have 470 hp and with exhaust you have 480 hp. However from what I have read this is not even close to your actual numbers, you may in fact have around 420bhp with full bolt ons. Same for GIAC ETC So what am I missing hear? If each mod is proven to run about 30bhp when combined with a tune why don't they all add up to an additional 90 - 100hp over and above the tune? |

second of all, if you're interested in ONLY peak numbers, than please DO NOT mod your car...... intake = 10hp FMIC = 15-20 DP = 15-20 tune = adds more boost but "should" give @ 40whp just by itself. add that up.......... |

just so you know, i never got to dyno my car completely bone stock.
i did however dyno it on stock boost with fmic and dci. then i dyno'd with JB4 with the same mods. then i dyno'd with Cobb with the same mods. from stock boost with fmci and dci i picked up 65hp and 90ftlbs. i would feel safe saying that my car would probably probably dyno @ 15-20hp less without the fmic and dci. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
I should start talking WHP in the tuning community, I do understand where you are coming from with that. I guess BHP is still fresh in my mind as friends, family, co-workers only understand BHP and not horse power at the wheels. It's easier for me to understand the power gains as I've never had experience throwing a car on a dyno. |
