JB4/HPFP recall
so i'm an idiot and left my JB4 in when i dropped off my E90 this morning for HPFP recall. i thought i'd be fine leaving it on Map 0, and no big deal since i'm out of warranty.
however, i just got a call from the dealer because when they try to update the software it keeps bombing. they eventually figured out that it's got "some sort of chip". service rep told me that they had to contact BMW for instruction, but the JB4 will definitely have to come out. has anyone had any experience with this? should i trust these guys to rip it out? i'm assuming i have to, because they already have the new pump in.

once the SA gets ahold of it, i'm sure he's called every single person that gets a BMW paycheck letting them know to void any warranty you had, if it even existed to begin with.
even the fat 48 year old mexican chick mopping the bathroom floor will know your warranty is no bueno |

SA just called me... they tried to do the software upgrade first since it takes the longest. new pump not installed yet. he said that they can put in the new pump tomorrow morning, then i can pick it up, remove JB4 myself, and bring it back for software upgrade. make sense?

then push your box out of his shop, or have it towed out of there, remove the JB4 and then drive it back in. if all that comes together, i would then give your SA a "bro job". bro job is when a bro gives a bj to another bro..... he's actually giving you an opportunity to save your own stupid ass..... |

there is no way a dealer will ever remove your tune, so you dont have to worry about that. but also the software update fails all the time w/o a tune. if you also left all your other mods on then they probably just assumed you were tuned and took a look.

So you don't think I should let them put the new HPFP in yet?

in all seriousness though, just search and you'll find answers about reliability with tunes. yes youre putting more stress on the car so if the HPFP is faulty it will cause it to fail faster.

Software updates fail all the time even on stock vehicles.
Go to dealership and offer to take it out just to appease them. I doubt its the JB4. Some people wildly exaggerate in this thread. |
