Ordered my 328i X-Drive on Wednesday!

I bought a 2008 328xi last june with 17k miles. I now have 38,000. The car will need new tires soon as well. My dad and I were talking about trading in for a newer low mileage 328, such as an '09 or '10. However, he completely caught me off guard and mentioned ordering my dream e90! well my dream would be a 335i but sensibility and reliability wise the 328 is still a dream for me. I got the car for 500.00 above invoice as well as 22k for my trade in (a bare bones 328xi with power seats and heated seats) The car I ordered is a Space Grey/Oyster and dark burl wood with every option except M-Sport, Active Cruise Control, Auto High Beams and Harmon Kardon. I have the hi-fi in my '08 and it's fine. I AM SO EXCITED... my car is going to be built in Germany, and was just wondering if people have been recieving their cars early? or is it really a good 6-8 weeks. It's depressing not bein able to drive my 328xi now and the wait literally is killing me... 3 days in haha. Plus, the ml500 i'm using is 96.00 to fill up. I guess it will only make taking delivery of my new 3 even more exciting?

Congrats nice options. I ordered mine on march 15 and the car is reaching US soil on april 19th . If your dealer has production slot , it should be quick. my friend ordered one the same day and his car reached the port today.

Congrats. You may want to rethink the HK sound. If you like good quality sound you may miss not having it.

6-8 weeks is the time frame. Why did you give them your car so soon? Why wouldn't you have waited until yours came in?

Well... I ordered on Feb. 26th and mine has supposedly been at the dock awaiting shipment for the last two weeks. Since this is the end of week 7, I am likely looking at 11+ weeks minimum, and thats assuming they actually get it on a ship next week.

My mood has gone from excited to extremely frustrated...

I did not trade my car in yet, but they said to keep my trade in value accurate and guaranteed to not put more than 500 miles on the car. I have had the HK sound in some of my previous cars such as my land rovers and am used to it in my dads Mercedes S65/ml500 but I love the stereo in my current basic 328. It's deep, smooth and unjustifiable for me paying 800.00 more for the HK which sounds a little too 'clear' to me even with the correct settings. I'm excited about my sport seats, I drive, and folding seats the most. I do a lot of painting and photography so the basic benefit of folding seats will be a nice addition! Now hopefully I will just be getting the car sooooon. I'm a little sad about trading in my basic 3, it's probably just the sentiment.

sorry if I sound mean , but it's just a car, once I realized this, I started to enjoy it bit more. Use it , abuse it and discard it

Check with others who have been here longer, but I think they redesigned the standard stereo in '09 for the LCI. From what I have read on here, most people are really unhappy with it.

Think of it this way...you (or your Dad) are spending $40k+ on a car. Why skimp for $800 bucks?

I have verified with my sales person (and checked out the standard system in one of their inventory vehicles) that the hi-fi system is back, but I believe during some time in 2010 they only had a 6 speaker system without ANY tweeters, so you are correct. Then I would definitely opt for the upgrade. My cars price right now is 44,880 before taxes, so i'd honestly just want to put the 800 towards tax... my dad doesn't really care but I already went a little crazy with the options (well, a lot crazy) lol

Must be nice! I'm glad to hear the stereo from 2009 and before is back. It's really a solid base system. I've heard a lot of members complaining about their stereos in the 2010 and 2011 models.

I see you are in Boston; what dealer did you order from? I placed an order (via Herb Chambers) for a 335xi on 3/30 and production was completed on 4/12. I'm hoping I have the car by mid to late May (6-8wks total).

Did you get a production number? If so, you can track on line via BMWUSA's website or call this number 1-800-831-1117 and indicate "Vehicle Production Status". Calling is more precise.

Well I live in Beacon Hill, but I purchased my current e90 from Peabody. But during my newest transaction they basically offered me 18k for my car over the phone which was a joke and inconsiderate, which is why we are not purchasing through them again. We have (years ago) bought 7 series from herb chambers in Boston along with an e39 but when I was buying my last car they would not negotiate on any pricing which annoyed my dad- which is why we went to peabody and got a great deal. This time; my dad then spoke with his sales person and friend at foreign motors west mercedes which recommended awesome sales assistants at BMW of Sudbury (herb chambers as well). I do think they could have done better than 500- over invoice but since i'm ordering my car and they are giving me 22k for my current e90- it seems like a fair deal. I am just so excited I can get the last of this body style.... To me, it is a perfect car- while a little small but if it were bigger I guess it would ruin the whole car as well. My dad was pushing me toward a 535i x-drive but at 21, I don't feel like looking like a father yet/having my dad stealing my car when I am home on weekends, haha.

I leased my first 335i from HC and it could have gone a little better. I had done all my homework, but got hung up when they found an unallocated vehicle in shipment and offered it to me. It was what I wanted, but slightly different options. As a result, there was some confusion on my end and I ended up leaving about $700 on the table.

I chose HC as they are closest and only offer loaners to customers. This time, I knew I was going to have a custom order, so I again did my homework and targeted the vehicle's invoice price as my goal, all things considered. I managed to get it for $35 over invoice, including MACO, training, and lease acq fee offset by the x-Drive option credit. Probably could have knocked another $200 off, but I closed the deal over the phone in 15mins and never stepped foot in the dealership. Well worth the extra $200! Since I qualified for the OLP, I got .0003 off the buy rate money factor and all things considered, I'm spending $10 less per month than my previous 335i, despite a $6000 increase in MSRP!

Wow chuckiet! Good deal!! I was thinking about getting the 335i x-drive but I think it is a little too much power for me, lol.. I was really tempted though with the incentive they are doing. I just checked online and my car started production today!!!!!! I am freaking out!

now another question, they said my car will be ready by 'may 2nd'. Does this mean my build date will be May? / on the drivers door it by the vin number it will say "5/11" ? If anyone could let me know this that would be great

Probably. My car finished on 2/28/11 and the sticker says 3/11.
