Fitted tweeters today....
Bought some tweeters that i picked up from ebay via this forum and got some of the covers from BMW yesterday,
The tweeters cost me £30 and the covers/door surrounds cost £42 from BMW... Took about 1 hr 15 to fit the first one (passenger side) and about 15-20 mins to fit the other side !! Glad I had a friend to help - the trickiest bit is fitting the new trim but overall its definitely a DIY job. Oh and the difference in sound is massive - I was cynical when I saw the size of the tweeters but it really is a huge improvement.. Why BMW don't fit them in the first place is beyond me |

Take it all the wires are there for the tweeters anyway?

Sounds good, will be trying the same myself soon, were those the Logic 7 tweeters or the BMW Business tweeters? I think the L7 ones have a silver finish.

its very easy - the connection is on the speakers in the door - you just plug the tweeters in
You need to buy new door trims obviously - ones that have grills built in. I won't over exaggerate its still a piss poor system for a 30k car but its a lot better Well I can actually bare to listen to it now whereas before I rarely used it other than for the radio ! |

Justa, I was thinking, did you have to remove the door card completely? As You didnt change the door speaker would it be possible to just pop all the door card clips out apart from the bottom ones, open a large gap between the door and its outer card at the top then just plug in the tweeter to the door speaker and close the door card up again? Just thinking it might make the job a little quicker and easier. Last edited by deeno; 04-16-2011 at 04:07 PM.. |
