Just bought a 57 plate e90 the power steering is quite noisy seems to be a pump noise, I checked the fluid and it was really dark in colour, drained it out of the resi and refiled a couple of times over a couple of days to make sure it was all out it has got a bit quieter but can still hear it is it normal to hear the power steering on these thanks rob

From what I've read in other threads I'd have to say the opposite and say it's not that uncommon at all to have a noisy steering pump. Mine is noisy but only at the extremes of lock or sometimes if sitting completely stationary.

Desmondo that sounds the same as mine mate seems less noisy when hot when you would think the oil would be thinner but no, its not really loud and you cant hear it when standing outside the car
