Been looking for a while at trading in my 135i and getting a 335i, what do you guys think to this car.

It's got high mileage hence the low price tag and it's got oyster leather which I'm not keen on really but it does have the 313's which I was looking to put on anyway.

Oh and it's a manual which makes it worth a bit less than auto and auto DCT.

So it's got a few things going against it but how do you think it's priced?

Very high milage for it's age but it looks very good and it has a good spec I would say that that it is a good deal

How many miles a year do you do?

That looks a decent price, but I would press for more money off if wanting to deal.

I only do about 6-7000 miles a year as work from home, if I kept it for 5 years or so then I could sell it with roughly average miles.

I've done a whatcar valuation and it says £24550 from dealer but that site doesn't seem accurate to me as it has 09's with average mileage down as £23K and I've been looking for about a month and not seen any at that price.

I think that is expensive given the miles and the fact it's a manual ... but that is just my gut feeling as opposed to based on any actual knowledge

I reckon with a bit of a haggle that's a £23-£23.5k car. For me, mileage wouldn't be a problem. Manual 'box is a bonus as for me it's preferable to auto or DCT. Spec is good. Colour combo is good. Performance alloys are different, but in a good way. Nice car.

I wouldn't have a clue about the price but if you want a manual - then how many < 1 year old 335i manuals can there be? You may be waiting a long while for another one.

The sunroof is nice.

Manual gearbox is a bonus, but with that mileage it's not a bargain. I would hold out for sub 20k miles and a nicer black interior!!

I was offered £22k for my 135i so was looking at £3k on top before haggling, if it would have had black leather then I probably would have bought it provided I could of haggled about a grand off.

My 135 is manual but I'm a bit concerned about the fact that the majority of the 335's that I'm seeing are auto's and then DCT's when offered on the later ones, just thinking about when I come to sell it in a few years when by then it will be competing with all the DCT's.

Based on the Glass's guide (what the dealers use), that car is valued at £23,250 on part exchange (based on excellent condition). Obviously, the dealer will add a premium for any work they've done to it but they won't have to put a AUC Warranty on it as its probably still in the remainder of the New Car warranty.

With that in mind, I think its a sensible price but there is no doubt, room for negotiation too, if the dealer is wanting to do business with you.

Sounds like a fare px. The 335i does look lovely in blue with the 313 alloys. Maybe a compromise with the light interior. Dont think you will have any problem selling it in a few years, as there is always a market for the 'rare' manual cars. I know how hard it was for me to find a manual version last summer.. For me and a lot of enthusiasts it has to be manual!
Wouldnt surprise me if that 335i doesnt sell over the weekend.

The 335i is worth a test drive to see if you like it. If you only do 7k miles a year and do not need the extra space the 135i is going to be more fun to drive than the 3er.

i think thats fairly priced I mean come on thats like a good 12-13k off price brand new, granted its high miles but bmw warranty is your friend here.

The only thing putting me off is the oyster leather trim, too bright for me and probably a pain to clean.

I asked Rybrook would they swap the seats with another of there 335's with black dakota leather, they said they wouldn't but an alternative is to get it retrimmed by this company who would do it at the dealership before I pick the car up:

Total cost about £1400 and Rybrook would go halfs, I priced it up with BMW parts and total cost would be just over £4k + extra for fitting.

Any pitfalls in changing a car from original trim, does it devalue it?

Let the yanks and oil burners drive autos.

Go for it, lots of car for the money.

Live with the nice leather, and negotiate £1k off to drive away.

The 1er feels incredibly small in comparison.
And as for the drive, nothing much in it - they even weight a similar amount.

If they have another car with black leather it takes around 1 hour to do the swap.

However......I would go with the oyster, it is lovely in the flesh and BMW are starting to sell loads of cars with this colour, the lighter colours are coming back in again at the moment.
Black is just boring.

One other thing, the lighter leather is easier to look after, you can see if it gets any dirt on it and clean it in under a minute, black you can only really tell when it is too late and has become all shiny.

Oyster is a lovely leather , if you don't have kids/dogs etc, there should be no issue. Stick with it a pay £100 or so every 6/12 months for a professional clean if that is the sticking point. Changing the leather is just a waste of money. As has been said, negotiate £1000-£1500 off the price and enjoy.

I had lemon with a dog and kids and it was fine, in fact I now never want black again, it made it feel more special and stayed looking good for longer.

The three nicest looking cars I have had were all with beige / light interiors ... it does seem to make the car more special - they look light and airy as opposed to dark and sombre.

I have not really had any issues keeping them clean - it is just that scuffs from getting in and out stand out far more so you have to try and be a bit careful.

I think thats a cracking deal, not many facelifted e92 for less than that, let alone a 335i
