2 new recalls on 335
My car was in the shop for other reasons and my service rep said their are two recalls on the car. He didnt have the details on them but said the parts were being overnighted from Germany.
Anyone know anything about this? |

First I heard of this. Are you sure this is recalls vs TSB's? If he is telling you you he is holding your car to do 2 recalls he sure as hell needs to be able to tell you what they plan on doing. Call him back and ask him what they plan on doing before you let them do any mysterious recalls on your car.

Its better to have recalls and fix a problem than to ignore it isnt it.

TROUP ATL335, please don't create an uneccessary mass scare by posting a thread without providing further info.
You should find out more from your SA, and as radgator1 pointed out, there's a difference between a recall (major) and a TSB (minor).

Unless there are new ones:
1) Shift knob lever - the paint is crappy on the original one 2) AC line bracket - needs reinforcement And an unrelated question: Does BMW generally provide oil for top-offs? I thought that was included in free maintenance. |

I don't think they generally would top it off. The free maintenance covers your scheduled service oil change, but not quite top-offs. Nonetheless around 5K miles my oil level was down and my SA hooked me up with a top-off so I guess it depends.

These are TSB's
25-01-07 Shift leveler (yes leveler not lever) 64-11-06 ac line bracket The confustion came with the terminology. There are recalled parts but there is not a safety issue. |

I had one of those "recalls" taken care of back in December when I brought my car in to have the winter boots put on. They had to place the AC line bracket on----IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT A SERVICE BULLETIN. BMW says they weren't sure about structural integrity of the AC lines over a long period of time (100,000 miles) due to engine vibrations, in other words: it might be an unecessary addition, but they are playing safe rather than sorry I guess. The interesting part is the mechanic had to take the air intake box off, and one of the turbos, but to his surprise, when he got there, the holes for the bracket were already drilled, so all he had to do was screw the part in. Its no big deal, the worst part was just the labor for the poor mechanic just to screw in a bracket
