Return to the fold

Nearly 3 years since I last owned a BM but just come back with this whilst I wait for the RS3 to arrive:

Not sure how much has changed since my B3 but the I-drive seems a lot more user friendly and compared to the GT-R it’s like riding on air

Welcome back!

Exactly - I'd have though an RS3 might be a filler waiting for an M3 to arrive, but not the other way round??

With the winters we've been having recently I think I'd prefer the RS3 come Oct/Nov only keep Cars for 3 or 4 Months anyway so If the RS3 is as crap as everyone seems to think I'm sure I'll be able to find something to replace it with

Winter tyres and you'll be fine in any M3 or BMW

My thoughts exactly, the RS doesn't get the best of writeups either.

I'd keep that M3, you'd never ever lose it in the car park

if you can afford to switch cars every few months then thinking of the sensible elements of BM ownership like winter tyres doesn't even come into it.

I'm only jealous!! I have only just enough money to run a 335d if I run it over a 5 year period.

Nice car, the colour takes me back a few years and really sets this M apart from the usual whites, greys and blacks.

The guy who owned the BMW approved bodyshop for my dealer in the mid 90's had a Dakar Yellow E36 M3 with racing dynamic alloys. It looked fantastic in it's day and its good to see BMW bringing back some of the old colours in the M cars.

Nice. Only the third Dakar E9x I've seen. Mits has a Dakar 330d which I believe is the only Dakar E90 in the country (At least the dealer assured him it was). This is the second E92 I've seen although neither in the flesh. Other was a 325 I think so this is the first M.

Keep this car. It'll be magnitudes better than the RS3. You know it makes sense.

Good luck finding someone to buy this from you in 3 to 4 months time - better get the adverts up now and wait for someone wanting a yellow M3 to come along - can't be that many .

Well done on not following the crowd with colours and, thought I wouldn't buy it myself, it does look good. You know only too well you'll get a kicking when trying to trade it in (not being a 'desirable' colour) but I guess you gave the dealer a good kicking now so it all balances out.

As said, not a bad 'filler' car, but sure you'll enjoy it whilst it lasts .

Funnily enough, only a few days ago, I saw it's twin sister driving through my village (yes, another M3 in Dakar Yellow) - small world...

Funny thing is just opening the blinds couple of days back at home and I live on a fairly quite road and what goes by but a Dakar Edition M3 also no worries on resale front as it stands me at such a low figure I can wrap it and would still only need to get about £42K to be in profit but I am actually quite liking the colour

Beautiful car!

Why on earth is that a filler for an RS3 - a tarted up version of a frankly ancient car (2003 that platform of A3 has been soldiering on since!) thats well past its sellby date? Cancel the order and enjoy your stunning M3 - its a league above the jumped up hatchback.

Originally ordered the RS3 as a 2nd Car to run along side the GT-R but find the Nissan impractical for everyday use (must be getting old) So have now decided to sell the GT-R and as the M3 is similar performance to the forthcoming RS3 which won’t arrive until about September when the weather is more sorted to 4WD the RS3 looks the better option. (As I am enjoying the M3 so much may even keep both for a while)

Hmmmm. I know you'll have had this argument 100 times. I know you will. But I still can't help but post it again .

What has UK weather got to do with anything.

Second set of alloys + winters and the M3 will be far better in the snow (if there is any) than the RS3 anyway.

Don't underestimate how completely a RWD car is transformed by actually having the correct tyres on for the season. After all there's a reason it's illegal not to run winters during the winter months in alot of mainland Europe

Obviously this forum is biased but coming from such a fine pedigree of cars I can't see how you won't be bitterly dissapointed with stepping into a hatchback
