***N55 Dyno Vishnu Procede and Vishnu Downpipe Combo***
So here we go guys,
Wheel Horsepower - 325 hp Wheel Torque - 371 tq (12.5 psi to 13 psi ) 2011 135i DCT 3k miles Vishnu Downpipe Vishnu Procede Stock Exhaust Stock Intercooler 91 octane Dyno Jet 12.5 to 13 psi The best run of all was done with a 30 min COOL down with LOTS of FANS. ... FYI Vishnu Procede and Downpipe Stock Run After a long awaited month of work / school and life, I was able to get the car on the dyno for some great numbers. Lets start of with the description of car and mods: Problems on the dyno - FYI anyone with a automatic or DCT, be careful with the full throttle down shifts on the dyno, because we dynoed several times and it kept doing that... You will notice the chart and throttle inconsistency because of the foot to pedal variable. Manuals should not have a problem. Overall for the past month since the procede and downpipe has been on the car. The torque is monstrous and just pulllls. From the dyno it looks like we should be shifting from 5500 to 5800 Rpms for optimal performance. Check list for kills : E92 M3 , 2011 5.0 Mustangs and e46 M3's Last edited by htt760; 04-27-2011 at 12:48 PM.. Reason: Added Stock and SAE TO STD Runs |

How much did you do stock ? Normally an N54 does about 275who on a Dynojet...if the N55 is almost identical it would mean about 50whp...not really exciting for what we are used to

tsc,
the N55 vs the N54 are two different animals. N54 is a top end car vs the N55 which is a bottom end car. N54 - Higher Horsepower / Twin Turbo N55 - Higher Torque / Single Turbo ( Small ) |

Damn fine results sir. That torque curve is so nasty. Combined with the 7 speed I bet it feels like a magic carpet ride. That will wake wake you up in the morning

Looks good! What were the STD numbers? That's typically the correction factor used on this forum.
FWIW, I think the dyno operator could have used better ignition source for the RPM pickup. It would have gotten rid of those sharp little spikes. |

Wait, also how was the boost pressure checked with an external gauge? It must have been reading electronic signal and not actual vacuum right?

Nice charts htt. At first I was confused by all those sharp spikes but it makes sense with what shiv says and combine that with not being able to floor it because of the kickdown button under the pedal. How does the back end hold up with all that torque? Pretty squirrely with DTC off? I am for sure going to get the vishnu downpipe for my car those numbers looks promising.

hmmm... procede v5 and the 3.5 catless... 325 rwhp? that doesn't sound right at all. s/b 340-ish at least with BOTH of those.

Shiv, this is where i think the dyno operator was using a magnetic pickup via the crank pulley. Does this affect the reading Im guessing?

The challenge is with the n55 that single turbo can only make so much power top end. U could crank the boost to 16-17 psi, u won't see any improvement top end. Sorta like how n54 is maxed out around 380-385 whp at redline spinning the hell out of the turbos.
All the gains achieved from cranking the boost on either engine is in the midrange up to around 6000 rpm tops.

hmmm , okay the STD numbers are different for sure, and will repost for everyone to look at. Just spoke to the dyno operator and he did use a magnetic pickup and recently re calibrated his dyno. Hope it didnt affect the numbers

The mag pick up that the dyno operator used is fine. Although he would have gotten a cleaner signal from an ignition coil. Doesn't effect the numbers at all. It would have just eliminated those two funny looking spikes.

You have to remember he is also using SAE #s instead of the STD correction that most on this forum use. The SAE correction will make the #s lower then you are used to seeing around here. I prefer to use an SAE correction, instead of using the inflated STD #s. An N54 would be around the same #s with the same mods. Just wait until I dyno my car on a Mustang Dyno, everyone is going to be crying that my #s suck, because it dynos way lower then a Dynojet, but its much much more accurate. htt- These #s are great IMO for DP and Tune only. Especially on 12.5-13psi 370rwtq on that boost SAE corrected is awesome. These N54 guys are just hating |
