Activating door locking chirp & other sounds, possible?
Just picked up a 335d for a loaner while my 2007 335i is in for some warranty work. I noticed that while the diesel doesn't even have premium audio, or iDrive, for that matter the car still gives the characteristic BMW boOong noise when the key is in the ignition. My car doesn't make this noise at all? It would be especially nice as the seatbelt reminder instead of the noise mine makes which is just an obnoxious beep..beep..beep, noise in quick succession.
The 335d also makes a double chirp/chirp for unlock/lock. The clown nose blinks so I am assuming the car has an alarm installed. Can this audio confirmation be turned or coded on in my car? Are my ignition key sounds just turned off at the moment? Found this on bimmerforums about activating audio confirmation from the stalk.. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=10

I don't believe there's an audio box (speaker) in our cars, which is why the alarm is needed.

Newer 2009+ cars make the dong-dong sound even without the iDrive
The siren makes the beep sound on locking and unlocking. Siren is part of alarm retrofit so without it you have no siren and no beep |
