H&R Sports Everything Stock?
Before you guys flame! i did use the search button, and i know there are other threads like this.
Was given a set of HR Sport springs from a friend for free after he returned his lease, now i currently have 19 inch VMR's on my car, was looking into getting the HR's installed on my car... but not changing anything else? How bad will the ride be? Not sure if it matter's but i have 09 LCI 335i with the sports package Last edited by karkid; 04-27-2011 at 07:46 AM.. |

Take it from someone who has first hand experience...upgrade your shocks at the same time you upgrade to H&R Springs...I made a mistake not doing this

Seems like the general consensus is that you need shocks with the springs. Some people seem to enjoy the ride quality with just springs but most people don't. Do any of you guys have B&G springs. I haven't read any bad comments about using those with stock struts.

I just installed BnG on my xi. The ride is better than stock and the drop is about an inch all around so far. I love em.

Don't do it without the shocks.. your ride will deteriorate pretty fast.

I have H&R race springs on my car with stock struts and yes it ride is stiffer than stock but the drop looks great. And though it may shorten the life of your struts it won't do it as fast as people around here claim. As with any car that is lowered on just springs and if are also the type of idiot (not calling anybody specifically an idiot) that doesn't slow down for dips and speed bumps then yes a blown strut is in your near future. I personally couldn't justify dumping a grand or more on a top notch suspension set up for driving no more than 14 miles a day. When all I wanted at the end of the day was a more aggressive stance. So with that said throw the springs on see how you like them and if like the look but not the ride get some aftermarket shocks. My 0.2 cents.

You can get a good set of dampers for $600, and you're already either paying labor for someone to remove your struts or doing it yourself...why wouldn't you upgrade the dampers at the same time as the springs?
