Headlight washer plate come off
It happened to mine today. Not sure how as temps are warm, reckon it just came off with wind resistance when washing the screen.
Will be getting it replaced. Is it worth going to the dealer or indie? I know the part / plate is cheap but painting and fitting. What do you think? Also, can someone advise on which fuse to pull. Those washers are annoying anyway. The make no difference, and just get dried and noticeable streams of water all over the bonnet. The only thing i need to make sure is if the fuse that i pull controls anything else on the 335d e92? Cheers, |

I suspect wind resistance and a weak attaching spring.
Not sure which fuse but I remember reading that it does control something else on the E92/3 (not so on the E90/1). |

Is the jet nozzle still in place? Could be a pricey repair if not.

Could you take a picture if what you can see as you peer down into the hole left by the missing cover?

Just operate them. If it squirts out like a hose pipe straight up then the jet is missing too. I've just ordered jet and primed cover for £45 from bmwmini parts. Then spray with laquer is £20. Alot cheaper than BMW thieving buggers

I just had both of mine replaced by the stealer but that was under the warranty that I got when I bought the car a few weeks back. Does this happen often to people, like the other people I didn't see any reason for both of mine popping off.

Mine came off over the winter - apparently they don't like the cold as when I went to get mine replaced they had about 10 on back order due to a spate of these popping off!

You can't get the jet seperate to the telescopic washer thingy!
This is what a complete assembly looks like, the jet is what the cover is attached to. When the ice pops them off, the jet goes with the cover and that's when it gets expensive.

I think mine was just the covers that came off as I had a a couple of springs showing, just a bit of a pain that they don't come painted, the deaer painted them but they are not an exact match but shoudn't complain as I didn't pay :-)

Cant do under warranty because they said they will check the washer fluid concentrations and if its not from BMW in the correct ratio then warranty wont cover. Sorry OP to hijack your thread! |

When removing my xenons the other day (thread in here somewhere), I had to remove the bumper and also the washer jets.
In hindsight, it is rather easy - bumper is just bolted on, and once removed the washer jet pump is just clipped in place. I'd defo DIY it rather than use a dealer if I loose another jet/cover out of warranty. BTW replacing the covers only if the jet is still there is very easy - they just clip on - you can even use the cover to help pull the jet out (it has 2 sets of holes for clipping on - use the first holes to grab the jet, then us it to pull out the jet, then clip it on via the correct holes for flush fit).

Thanks for the pics Dave
Here is mine Looks like the jet is still there? Think i just need a plate, clip, spring and a paint. We still love to know how to disable these on the e92. Must admit haven't checked the fuses but apparently (from posts i've read) fuse 48 doesnt exist on the e92. |

Agrh, this has just happened to me and the jet has gone bye-bye.
I remember reading someone said that it can happen if there is not enough liquid in the washer bottle but I'm pretty sure that was not the case. Hmm. |

Still looking for advice on which fuse to pull to disable these on e92's
Will be booking it in next week for the plate and paint. If you manage to disable the washers then you could probably not bother replacing the jet as Dave mentioned it gets pretty expensive. |

BMW were fine about replacing mine no questions or problems. It happens far too often now and the buggers cost a fortune to replace if you have to pay. |

I might have a couple of jets the same as DrDave's in the garage as I never fitted them when I changed my bumper, I don't have the covers though.

I had them both go on my x5 just after Christmas, the dealer said I had to pay for them because my washer fluid wasn't the correct ratio strangely after a email to the MD of BMW uk I got a call from the stealer saying BMW will make an exception and the washer fluid was ok
They wanted something like £200 for each side |
