Front license plate...grrr

I'm looking for more on front license plate holders. There is a fully retractable one out there that is pretty cool but I may have to remove some of the plastic mesh from the bumper for it to fit. Does anyone use the tow hook type? Any problems with the plate assembly backing off from the threaded dowel? Thanks

Tow hook one looks ridiculous. Whats wrong with the regular one?

Autozone has a $10, 2 piece bracket that you can mount to the lip in the front grill and has two bolts that you can take out when you don't want to run the plate. The bracket is barely noticeable at that point. It is chrome though, so I'd recommend painting it.

Search around and you should be able to find it. I'm just really lazy.

I actually have the bracket, have it painted, but haven't put it on yet. I really don't want to put a front plate on, but know I have to.

Funny, I am in NB and bought a front plate bracket for my 335xi but I have resisted mounting it for the same reasons. I really don't want to drill the front of the car.

I have been driving since Feb with no front plate and so far no problems. I keep the front plate between the seats just in case though.

I just wish NB would go like NS and QC and drop the front plate requirement.

I hear you. Totally agree about going to one plate. Here's a great opportunity for NB to cut costs.
This one looks interesting:

Why don't you want to drill? Holes will always be covered by a plate. I don't get it. Please explain.

Tickets are $150 in Toronto for no visible front plate.

The no holes option is better for resale in my opinion. It would also appeal to buyers living in provinces who don't need a front plate. I am willing to drill holes up under the bumper as long as they can't be seen head on.

I don't find the front license plate so bad on the E90. At least we have a flat area for it. Some cars have too much curvature in the front and the plate has to hang down. That looks bad, imo.

There was a rumor they were going to change it to a moving violation, but they haven't yet.

Generally speaking if you get one you can fight it and either a) never get a court date or b) show up and show it has been corrected.
