Will an Auto transmission trim fit a Manual transmission trim?

I'm interested in swapping my aluminum trim for a burl walnut trim but my mechanic at BMW advised that if my car is auto, and the other trim is from a manual car, they may not fit each other.. he wasn't 100% positive though.

Just wondering if anyone has done this swap before or knows for sure if it will fit?

Not sure, but you should also make sure the trim is for iDrive or not whatever your case may be.

Ya. the iDrive part is fine.. other guy's trim is for iDrive as well. Its just this manual/auto fit that i'm concerned about. Don't wanna find out the hard way.
