Exclamation Vishnu Procede PWM Meth kit and Final Dynos

Today we just finished the final calibration touches on our PWM meth kit. Very happy to say the least.

The test car was racecar driver Jeff Westphall's 335i. Full suspension mods but with only DCIs, AE Catback and Procede for mods. Car has 55k miles on the clock. 91oct Chevron. 85F ambient temps.

Here are 3 "cool" runs showing the different states of tune. Each was taken after 5 minutes of cool-down.

-Stock tune (map0) made 286whp which is reasonable given minimal mods. All the stock tune runs were within 2whp of each other.
-Procede 3-30 DIC map. Running 100%IC and 14psi boost made 354whp. This is the MOST Jeff's car has EVER made on pump gas. Most runs of his other non-meth runs are in the 330-340whp range.
-Procede 3-30 DIC map with PWM Meth active. Running 16.5psi and 0% IC, it made 412whp. With even warm runs being in the 400-405whp range. That's the nice thing about meth. Even "hot" runs aren't that hot due to the cooling effect of meth.

On the road, the car is electric with PWM meth active. It's as smooth as the dyno curves suggest. And the response time is great. Unlike traditional variable pressure set ups that require a second or so to start flowing at boost onset, this starts flowing immediately. This means as soon as the throttle requests more than 5psi of boost, the meth starts to flow and the turn signal lights illuminate. No waiting. The advantage of PWM meth is that the Procede initiations meth well before the onset of full boost. Which means during spool-up, meth is already being metered in small deliberate amounts keeping IATs low and effective octane high. Which means that meth isn't used to stop knock and drop IATs. Instread, it's used to keep IATs from rising or knock retard from initiating IN THE FIRST PLACE. It's really a novel idea made possible by using a system that holds 150psi constantly and releases meth via high speed valve. Just like a normal fuel system!

More pics of the Finalized PWM Meth Kit:

We have another car (DCI and Procede only) coming in tomorrow for another install/test. So should have some more results later this week

Cheers
Shiv

Beautiful results! I can't wait to see what this new meth kit will do with a FBO car!

126 WHP and 129 FT/LB delta on 91 octane with just the procede V5 and PWM kit change is absolutely ridiculous.

What is up with the power waviness on the pump gas run? The stock and meth runs look great, but the 14psi pump run looks pretty wavy up top. Any data logs to go with these runs?

Shiv - maybe im reading the dyno wrong but is there a reason why power seems to drop off alot quicker up top with the meth kit than on stock + procede tune only?

Also - will this kit be usable with just a meth elbow with the kit instead of the entire chargepipe?

I have all the datalogs. The waviness is to be expected on a car running such minimal mods (no FMIC or dps) and running 14psi of 91oct. There are some smoother looking logs in the 330-335whp range, running 12.5-13psi of boost. But I wanted to represent the highest hp runs of each configuration.

stock turbos can only flow so much air up top. Nothing wrong with the meth results.

Shiv, could you explain what you mean by small deliberate amounts here? If there is a constant 150 psi of meth flowing isn't this either ALL ON or ALL OFF? How is this different or advantagous compared to a meth system that turns on at say 3psi boost so that appropriate meth is flowing because of the proposed "waiting" that you imply is there with a variable meth setup? What am I not understanding here? Thanks.

I noticed in my personal testing, when I run 80/20 mix, my timing takes a shit, however when I run 100% meth, my timing is impeccable and there is a butt dyno increase in power as well.

The whole point of adding water into any injection mix is to keep the EGTs in check however.

On the dyno though, 100% meth is likely going to bring the best results

so will the chargepipe be released at the same time as the meth kit or will the n54 still have to wait awhile?

With conventional variable pressure kits, if you start turning on the meth pump at say 3psi, you are only going to be dribbling out of the nozzle since there is not enough system pressure to create a nice atomized spray at such low boost pressures. Add to that, the fact that fluid flow isn't linear with pressure and you have a scenario where your effective dynamic range is pretty narrow and not properly controlled.

With the PWM meth kit, you run a constant line pressure of 150-160psi and use an actual injector that you PWM at anywhere from 0 to 100%. So the Procede runs the solenoid at low DCs when only a little meth flow is needed. But even at this small meth flow, there is perfect atomization. Which means proper heat absorption and solid octane enhancement. Something that you can't get with a traditional variable pressure kit until it builds 150+ psi of meth pressure. Which, in effect, makes those kits more off/on. Which is why people can run a basic 250psi meth kit controlled by a Hobbs switch and have it run nearly as well as a similar kit with a progressive controller.

PWM kits are in another league

Car was running a 75/25% mix. For max power, 100% would probably be better idea. But then again, i've been very surprised how well the PWM kit works at less strong mixtures. With the next car, I'll probably test at 50/50. With convention variable pressure kits, running too much water can hurt power. This seems to be less of an issue with the PWM approach since atomization is always insured.

N54 chargepipes are being built this week. And we have a big batch of meth hardware (flow sensors, solenoids and fittings) en route from Aquamist. They should be here next week. Pumps are on backorder from Aquatec until the 12th so that will give us time to get everything else packaged up and ready for shipment. Online order link will go up tomorrow with prices and options. First batch of kits is already sold out. So we will be taking orders for late May shipment.

Cheers

So it's 3 nozzles that you're using correct ? or 1 big nozzle ?

Thanks. Just did a Google search and realized that PWM is Pulse Width Modulation....I thought it was Progressive Water Meth kit. I also found a couple of videos to help others as well as a forum discussion on the topic.

The link shows 3 videos. The 2nd and 3rd are best representation of this.

Here is a post on another forum that describes the difference pretty well.
