New suspension install...which? How much?
I'm looking into either installing either:
1)Koni FSD shocks+Eibach springs 2)BMW Performance Suspension with performance yellow springs. I've heard really good things about the Koni FSD/Eibach set up but it seems the new BMW Performance kit also comes with thicker front sway bars. The price difference seems to be about $300 difference. Do you guys think getting a new sway bar is worth the price difference plus the "safety" and warranty of having a BMW product installed? How much do you think is a reasonable price for an independent install vs a dealer install? Any info and advice would be appreciated. |

Auto Innovations in Milpitas bro. Ask for Orlando. He'll charge around $250-300 I believe for springs install. Installing shocks also will be a little more. Dealership is always overpriced.

Ya, never go to the dealer for that. Check out SonicMS, I'm going there Friday, they offer good prices.

I second SonicMS. I have been very happy with my experiences there.

i've been to both. i usually go to orlando's auto innovations for suspension stuff only and darwin's sonic ms for cosmetic.
last time i was at AI, i got f+r sways done for like 330?

I asked dealer about the BMW Perf. Suspension. I have a 2010 E92, M Sport. The dealer quoted me close to $3,000.00 with installtion. They told me that with the M sport the gains would not be worth the cost, and I should look at aftermarket coilovers.
I ended up putting KW Series 1 coilevers on my ride, and I am very happy with the improvement. The next mod. I plan on is a LSD, hopefully in he next few weeks. I haven't changed the sway bars, but the coilovers alone really flattend out the cornering. I recently replaced the tires with Michelin PS2 Non-RFT's and the ride is greatly improved. |

I know this isn't the regional section but as long as we're on the subject, do you guys have any recommendations for shops in the east bay for suspension install?
(besides Edge Motorworks who quoted me upwards of $800 w/o including alignment which I think is a bit high) |

Add Koni Yellow / H&R Sport (or Eibach) to your list, I'm super happy with mine. The HR's drop is a little more aggresive than Eibach's.
+1 on SconicMS or grab yourself some jack stands and do it in the garage ![]() A install should cost you no more than $500 and add another $100 for alignment after it settles for a week.

My dealer is OK with mods, within reason. They convinced me to buy a 335i instead of an M3, and told me for less money and a few mods it could be just as quick. All of the SA's are into tricked out E90/92's.
I even got an ECU and an HPFP replacement on BMW's nickel with a JB3 in the car. I had it at Map 0, and they reset it at Map 5 when the work was done! |
