I'm test fitting my M3 bumper and I saw there was barely any room for my intercooler.
I have the CX Racing. It was not on the car during the test fit because I needed to make new brackets to raise it about a half inch. I was just wondering if anyone has installed this bumper on a BigTom or CXR intercooler... Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

your tubes come out way too far. The intercooler is supposed to sit much further back than that. There is no way it will fit with the intercooler that far forwards

Yeah, I had it mounted flat (as possible) against the backside of the impact beam. I will make bracket spacers to push it back a bit then I'll trim the tubes accordingly.
Do you know how much room there is between the impact beam and the a/c condenser/radiator? |

Looking back I could see how that may appear to be coming from an asshole but such was not my intent. I just wanted to make sure you realize this is not mtech and this IC is NOT a direct oe replacement kit...

Since I just installed my m3 rep also...I know exactly the fitment issues that you'll run into. I was just agreeing with him that #1 your pipes are way too far out. You're going to have to do some adjustments, maybe some cutting to fit that.

I mounted my IC flush to the impact beam just like Bake did and he doesn't have an M3 replica bumper so again, thank you for your time but still not what I'm looking for... Not trying to be a dick* |

I would think that if you had it behind the impact beam, it shouldn't be a clearance issue. Could you mount the intercooler without any bumper and take a picture for us?

Nevermind. I see what the problem is from bakeme's thread.
Your intercooler sits almost flush with the ducts on the fron of the car. But these ducts need to be trimmed to fit the M3 rep. So now your intercooler is hitting the bumper in the same place... I don't know how easily that is fixed. I'd have to look at it in person. |

I'm just surprised because all the CXR DIY threads I saw everyone mounted their IC against the impact beam such that their mounting tabs would be the minimum length. What made you guys stray and mount yours further back and how did you? Just longer tabs? |

They were causing the obstruction then I asked around and was informed of this necessary modification. I did it and the bumper fits but the IC's current location is exactly flush with where the tip of the ducts WERE. So I'll have the same problem. I'm just going to make different brackets and trim my pipes. Thanks for everyone's help and input! |

Brey,
I'm going to be going taking a road trip which includes Austin/Killeen to see friends and family. I'm trying to link up with local BMW groups along the way to check out some rides. You guys have a pretty big, regular group down there? |

trim trim to make it fit... if you go aftermarket, expect to do some modding. do what you need to do to make it fit. that's the game of modding!

Not really regular but when everyone decides to come out and be social then the group is pretty big. I mostly hang with the UT car club
