Smile Vishnu PWM Meth is getting racey

Just finished up another PWM meth install. This one on zsapphire7's '08 Montego Blue coupe-converted-into-streetable-racecar. Quite the roadcourse junky, zsapphire has built a very well prepped track car. Full suspension, Stoptech brakes at all four corners, dual oil coolers, custom airducts, etc,. But until now, the only power-mods on the car were an AE catback, downpipes, DCIs and a Procede. Still stock intercooler though. Which no doubt has made his car unhappy during long 30 min racing sessions. So reasonably, the next step was a PWM meth kit! Got some fun track testing to do tomorrow. We will be able to get a good handle of meth consumption during racing conditions. As well as check the tune's aggression levels after every session to see just how good of a job the Meth kit is doing in keeping things cool and knock-free. Should be a fun and very revealing day. Will report later

And some pictures:

Lovely setup. i imagne its lots of fun. What sort of suspension components were chosen? Unfortunately Stoptech went to he'll after Bob sold it. That stuff is really junk now. Check it carefully after ever session. Bridges and rotors have a habit of cracking.

I look forward to post session logs and reports!

I will be VERY interested in the results. I'd like to know your suspension setup, as well. If this helps keep temps cool on the track, I may just have my next mod.

i guess i don't understand why someone would buy a comfy car like this and try and make it into an uncomfortable race car. surely there are better platforms if he's into road course racing. ah well, that's just my obervation. to each his own

Agreed 100%

You buy an Evo for road racing, BMW for comfort and luxury, with those seats you have sacrificed the comfort and the performance you get will not be like other road race cars which are fully dedicated.

But to each his own...

Its about what you drive at the track, ive killed evo's and sti's at the track. Im looking for reliability along with the very torquey n54, it really sets up well to be a track queen. The straights and exiting corners is where this car really shines...I take mine to the track with a full interior. One might ask the same about lambo's, ferrari's, and porsche's but its up to the end user and what he/she can afford.

This car looks amazing, how much are the PWN kits running? I am interested now..

I'm guessing he has a trunk mounted meth tank or did he tap the washer fluid tank?

I'm very interested to hear what the meth consumption is over a ~30 minute track session with lots of WOT

+1, I want to see what consumption is as well. With my current Vishnu meth kit it dumps rather quickly. With a DO10 nozzle it only last 8-12 WOT pulls. Are there any pics of this kit?

i think my car is way more comfortable and driveable with my coilovers, it absorbs every bump instead of me floating around with the wind. car feels super planted, and to me that's comfortable.

I am assuming that he tapped the washer tank - this is the basis of Shiv's kit - Calvin, can you confirm the setup here please?

As i said many times before, you run out at around 20-30 min with a single 1.0 mm nozzel. With 2 nozzel's its going to be faster. The washer tank is only 1.5 gallons, it's just good enough for a quick track session. You can always adjust flow to make it last longer if you are planning on being on the track for more than 30......by that time you will probably be in limp from overheating oil or tranny

Now he has the cooling to support very high boost. However he needs a meth tank of 3-4 gallons to keep the high boost for the full 30 mins. Easy to do. Its better to have it on the rear axle for balancing the weight distribution close to 50-50 and helping the traction at full tank.

So far, we did 3.5 20 min sessions and the tank never ran dry. The car is running in two run groups So that is pretty good. Aggression level has stayed at ZERO. But that's only low boost testing (11-12psi). Afternoon sessions will run more boost. So far, things are looking really nice.

This is with TWO 1.0mm nozzles. Roughly equivalent to running dual M7s in a conventional PPS meth system.
