Suspension Newb

I know nothing about suspensions. When i say nothing i mean absolutely nothing. What is the best way for someone with my suspension knowledge (zero) to lower their e90 by about an inch or so?

you can use either
a.) coilovers (ie. kw)
b.) springs using stock shocks (ie. h&R springs)
c.) springs and using aftermarket strut combo (ie H&R springs and koni shocks.

Tons and tons of choices.
