Just completed the 6NR retrofit with Patrys. I have a 2011 135i with the Combox installed at the factory, so the only hardware I needed was the USB harness.
I got in on the group buy in New Jersey. You just let Pat know exactly what you want, then you make an appt with one of the installers he works with in your area. In my case it was Rich in NJ, he's a great guy and very flexible as far as scheduling.
When Patrys was done working his magic I had all the 6NR options activated.
Facebook, Twitter, Web Radio, Pandora. I also have Plug-In so I get the Apple interface on my idrive screen.
When I got home I installed the BMW app on son's ipod touch and got everything working on that as well using the hotspot feature on my iphone 4.

If you have a BMW more than a few months old, this an awesome upgrade!!!

I just have to confirm that Patryk and Rich are super cool guys. My retrofit, Combox and 6NR work flawlessly. These upgrades will prevent me from getting a new car for a few years. And to one of the previous posters, Patryk did figure out the BMW assist issue with the combox retrofit.

I have just got a 3 series touring SE with 6NR fitted but nothing seems to work Apps, Plugin ect - is this something I need to do ?

If you have the 6NR option then at least Apps should work.
For BMW Plugin and Video playback you need the snap-in adapter or our solution to enable all 6NR features over USB cable.

I own a 2011 328xi manufactured December 2010. Already has NAV, iPod integration (I get album art with standard white apple cable). And smartphone integration. What is needed to get iPhone Apps to work?

I want this in my car.. I have a 2011 335i, NAV, iPod.. I just found out that if you use an apple usb the album art shows...The cord bmw gave me would not show the album art. is there anything I look at in my car to find out if I can have the app upgrades?

Question: For the Ipod touch. Can you download the bmw application and get the full control (album art, etc) through the idrive? I really would like to avoid buying an iphone just for this car. lol

Mitch, you you need to have ConnectedDrive plus you have to download BMW Connected app from Itunes

Although I have a March build 2011, I didn't get 6NR since I don't have an iphone. My work only supports blackberry.

Will 6NR eventually work with Blackberry -- or only Iphone?

Blackberry already works with BMW with the Office feature. Google (Android) already works with BMW with BMW Search.

So my wildest guess is that sooner or later both will support 6NR in their own ways.
