Just destroyed my ECU...

After my first unsuccessful JB4 install I was trying to reseat the main ECU connector but since the ECU plastic shield was in the way, i disengaged the slider completely ...

Now the large ECU connector is seated, the slider is in my hand, and I can't seem to get the connector out of the ECU.

I think I have completely f&***** over my engine.

Was able to pry it off. FYI, if this ever happens to you just put your singers under the module and pry it off

Try to put the slider back in the connector. If that doesn't work, just pull out out, going to have to use some force. If the clip is in your hand then it's no longer locked in and "should" come out. Your ECU is not screwed.

How do I get the damn ecu unit seated with the slider considering that the ecu shell/plastic is in the way?

I can't seem to seat it correctly at all and it because the slider is making contact with the shell!

It's not hard, just lift the ECU out of the shell by pushing on the two tabs holding it in. Now with it elevated about 4 inches you can slide the connector on then slide the ECU and connector back into the shell as one.

Exactly... if you can't figure out how to just release the tabs and lift the ecu out slightly then you should be no where near your car with any tools.

I live in new jersey. i'm officially back to stock - gonna try to re tighten all of the connections tomorrow and re try it again, but If that doesn't work I'm gonna call a few nearby friends to see who can help me install it.

Just be very careful trying to pry it off of there. I actually broke my connector (the whole side where the slider goes in just snapped off in my hand) trying to pry it out. I'm not even sure where to find the connector now since there seems to be about 6 different part numbers that are supposedly it. I was able to glue it back on and get the slider in, so it works, but I want to replace the piece next time I go in there in case I have to take it to the dealer or something.

I have the JB3 too and this makes me nervous everytime I go into the ECU. I might get a Cobb just so I don't have to deal with it. Need to do a little more reseach between the two.

Yah, it's really not that hard at all. The large subconnector fastner does touch the edge of the ECU box but its not that big of a deal. There is enough room to connect/disconnect the subconnectors.

After you get it the first time, it will be much easier the next time you need remove/reinstall. I took mine out this past weekend to take the car in for service, and put it back in today in about half the time as my first attempt. IMO, the most annoying part of this entire install is taking all the plastics off to get to the ECU.

The ECU comes out very easy and allows you access to the bottom of the tub.

OP: I'm sure there is someone near you that can give you a hand.
