Good Morning America's Expose on Gas

http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/play...61492&src=news

I guess they don't take turbo/performance cars into consideration

They dont even take into consideration the fact that regular gas is usually going to be the same. Shell barely puts any of the things they put in 93 in their 87. Complete halfhearted work.

She pissed me off at the end where she said "premium gas won't do a thing for you car except drain your wallet." Who died and made you a petroleum engineer?

Apparently they don't include high performance cars in their study.

Must be some kind of marketing scheme.

To me, it doesn't matter. BMW says premium. I am no way in hell ever running 87 octane from a generic, no name gas station. You CAN'T PAY ME to do that. Be it for peace of mind, thats fine. I'll pay 20 bucks extra for peace of mind a month, I can afford it.

With the 87, it probably doesn't make a difference. I think the test results would be different if they tested various 93s.

She didn't make any false statements, she did preface it by saying, "For 90% of cars, if your owners manual says regular, get regular" and by and large, she'd be correct.

If your car can use 87 octane, going to a higher octane doesn't do any good.

The BMW's owner's manual clearly states the minimum octane is premium gas, so that's what you should use.

you guys are a bit confused

when she says premium for thw whole program except her last sentance she meens; shell, mobile 1, ECT vs costco NOT 87 octane vs 93 octane

when she says premium at the end shes refering to 87 vs 93, she says nothing wrong, she said that if your manual doesnt say to use premium that your not going to get any benifit, which is true, she didnt say to put 87 in your bmw, ever seen the idiot in the camry filling up with 93 octane?

instead of calling the article and the reporter wrong, you should take a second to watch it again anhd pay attention

the article didnt have any bad information, everything they said was correct, the only diffrence between stations is the additives, and if your manual says to use regular 87 your not going to get any benefit from premium 93

as for the effect in the diffrence in additives, im not going to comment on that because im not 100% sure

who cares...screw the bitch..just kidding.

i've heard that using 91 on a car meant for 87 does nothing, but using 87 in a car meant for 91 is a no no.

87 eh? I guess I will be getting paid to change a lot of fuel pumps and fuel level sensors if everyone believes that one!

Maybe I should play a long with it, and watch my hours each week go through the roof

All of my cars have recieved 93, like it or not. It just cost me $46 to fill the tank up (I had 20 miles range left). Do you think I care? You gotta pay if you want to play.

Don't think you heard her correctly. Before she said that "premium gas won't do a thing for you car except drain your wallet" she said if your car's manual says you car requires 87 octane which is about 95% of all cars out there and you decide to use premium gas...it will drain your wallet. If you think about, she's right.

Man, if I ever come up with some premium-priced product that 90% of people never need, remind me to PM you!

Well, for the cars you owned in the 'not' category, you wasted your money. Premium did absolutely zilch for you.
