JB+ and wastegate actuators?
I've been running a jb+ for a few months now ('08 e92) and I do like this relatively "simple" tuning mod. For newbies to the tuning market, the true plug-and-play installation is what sold me. I do see noticeable gains in HP and Torque as the price for this mod is great. For jb+ experienced folks I have a couple of questions regarding the jb+ as I hope some of you could help.
As of late, I have been experiencing the infamous "rattle" which may be the wastegate actuators and a delayed start. I think it may be fuel injectors or the fuel pump but I just left my vehicle with the dealer so they are looking into it. My question is does the jb+ have any affect on wastegate actuators over time? or any other adverse affect to the engine? I've yet to trigger any codes but when I get my car back I plan to install the jb+ back in and increase settings past default. Also, what does the solenoid bypass really do? I've yet to really see any answers as it appears some jb+ owners seem to do this mod for a jb+ at 100%. Is it more advantageous to do this at 75%? Thanks all for any input you can provide...this forum has been a awesome resource to me. |

anything under 75% you shouldn't trigger any codes. I highly doubt its your JB+ that has caused the wastegate rattle. Others have been running much more aggressive tunes and many of their wastegates are fine.
the solenoid bypass is always optional. doing so gives the car faster spool up, resulting in better low end power. Many who run at 100% do this as it makes the car "smoother" and more "driveable" hope this helps!
