BFWD or Jetseal

I need a sealant and I think I've narrowed it down to one of these two.

I plan to do some detailing of my trucks the next two weekends and plan to use Meguiars 205 to polish. I'm fairly new with this and want to use a light cut to start out

I've tried Collinite 845 but want to try a sealant this time.

Any recommendations on a solid tough sealant is greatly appreciated.

I've used both, and both are excellent. I do prefer the BFWD right now though, the combination of slickness and protection is really amazing.

After seeing lackluster durability and almost no protection(waterspotting) from BFWD and really having a 'meh' bottle of experience with JetSeal I would tell you that 845 will easily outlast them and more importantly will provide significantly better protection than both.

Plus its a hybrid synthetic(so really you have been using a sealant all along)

845 is definitely the toughest of the group.

protection, I use BFWD
slickness, I use BFWD
wet look, I use BFWD

845 gets sub'd in every once in a while when I dont have the time to let bfwd setup and cure before removing it. 845 is pretty slick on its own, protects rather well, and is super cheap to boot!!!!

I have heard jetseal isnt as slick, and doesnt last as long as BFWD from someone I sent a sample to.

Can you ever get 845 completely off after applying? After 1hr of letting the product cure, I could still see streaks under bright sunlight in the direction I wiped during removal. Is it because 845 is too oily?

I've had all three professionally applied and also used all 3 myself in between major details. For some reason I never really did like Jet Seal, it just did not pack the shine and slickness I was looking for. I use 845 on a truck that gets a lot of abuse, tunnel washes, repeated dunks into water salt and fresh and just driven a lot, it holds up great with minor touch ups of a booster in between, looks ok on light colors no real pop factor on darks, BFWD has been used on two dark colored cars and it is very slick, good shine and looks great on dark colors, no real improvement over 845 on light. Probably the same duration 845 and BFWD, like I said I never really could get 3 or 4 months on Jet Seal before I wanted to strip and start over.
My choice would be based on color of cars and use. If light colors and are going be in the elements I say the 845 simply because it protects as well, looks the same on light colors to me and costs half as much so you can reapply more often. If dark colors and garaged use the BFWD hands down, looks the best is the slickest has the pop for dark colors. top with a wax that you like the look of and it really can come out nice. Lasts same as 845 5 to 6 months before you should put another coat on and all benefit from boosting them monthly with a spray wax or sealant as a QD.

Yes BFWD can be used on paint and glass, same for just about anything if you put it on lightly.

845 while not be a true WOWO product it's damn close. Little cure time needed but again as all products lightly apply, too thick too much too many problems. Did you fully mix the 845? Should be consistency of milk. Are you speaking of a hazing effect you see. Probably got way too much product on the surface.

This. You can put your 845 bottle in a sink of hot water, and you will need to do only minimal shaking. Chances are its probably in goop-status but this is the time of year where it becomes a true liquid again.

I have only seen and heard(customer reports) BFWD lasting 4-8 weeks..that doesnt cut it for me, well not for customer cars that need protection.

So what would you recommend on dark colored cars. Ex: my car is sparkling graphite, no garage but I do put a car cover on nightly when its clean..

the slickness of BFWD wears off at the 6-8 week mark no doubt, but the protection is still there for longer!

FWIW, BFWD topped with prima banana gloss is a stupid slick combo! I take care of a few cars monthly with a wash and wax, and I start them off with BFWD, then the next 4 months they receive either 845 or BFWD, or PBG...PBG is a killer combo!

I top the BFWD on my one car with DG Aqua Wax every other week, stays slick and glossy for quite sometime this way. I recoat the BFWD right around the 5 month or so mark and top it a week after with PB Natty Blue. Then start the DG AQ with every other wash. I like the DG especially as I spray on while wet so that has to help with any marring from drying.
I do the same topper and frequency on the two cars with the 845 on them and recoat same interval. No real difference in protection but the BFWD is definitely slicker and much glossier on the dark car. For Reference the dark cars are a JB
E46(845) and MB E90(BFWD).

I would really say that if you already have IW845 that it will look tremendous on prepped paint. Another option depending on where you are buying is M21 - Meguiar's Synthetic Sealant is going to look awesome as well..
