MTEC License Plate LED Problem

Hey guys,

Recently I purchased a set of MTEC License Plate LED's for my 2007 E93. Install was simple and everything worked fine. However, when the lights shut off after locking the car, one side turns off and then the other 1/2 a second later. I was assuming that it should shut off at the same time, correct? Any suggestions would be helpful.

OH, and another question. When my car is on in the ignition mode, the "service engine soon" light is on. I do not recall that being on before. I was wondering if that was normal or if I should take it in for warranty asap.

Thanks so much for any suggestions!

It doesn't turn off at the same time. The electrical current flows through, so when the current stops when you lock your car, the first housing to stop receiving the current would turn off first, then the second housing afterwards.

And when you mean the "Service Engine Soon" light is on during ignition mode, do you mean when you just put your key fob into the ignition?

Thanks for the answer. It all makes sense.

Anyway, for the second question, I put in the fob, press the start button without turning on the car. All the lights go away except for the seatbelt, brake, and "service engine soon". Before, I have only noticed the seatbelt and brake warnings. However, when i turn on the car, the service engine soon light disappears.

Then you are good, but when the car is running check your sistem's menu for any error or warning.

I get the same icon. I'm not worrying about it though because if there was a problem, it would stay on after ignition, right? at least that's what I tell myself

Haha, hopefully! Just that I never noticed it before so there has to be some meaning for it. I'm due for warranty service soon anyway so I'll try and find out the issue. Thanks for the info . Anyone else have input in this?

my car always has the '!' if i put the key in and press the start button without pressing the brake. I assume it's normal since it's not there once the car is turned on lol. I have the MTECs but I don't have welcome lighting so once the car is off they are turned off so I won't be able to tell if one shuts off before the other.

It is normal to see those lights on when you have the ignition key in there. Part of the error is telling you that the key is there so you don't forget to take it out. The other part of the error is that because it runs through a check to see if there's any service that needs to be due. It doesn't necessarily means that any service is needed, its just on because its checking to see if needed.

Hrm, from what I believe, it is because your door is still open is the reason why you have the '!' light.

Sorry, I'm a little confused now. You're saying the SES lights stays on even after you start your engine? What do you mean it stays on?

When you put the car in the 'on state' [stick the fob in, press the start button without stepping on the brake] the SES light stays on while all the other warning lights go away. You can see that the car is not running but the SES light is still on . However, when I turn the car on, it vanishes.
