N55 Codes Help
Hey Everyone,
I have a 2011 N55 e90 with JB Stage 1. I've noticed lately that my speedometer says I am going a little slower than I really am. For instance, I'll go by those police radar stands and it'll say I am coming in a couple of mph slower than my odometer says or if I put the car into cruise at 75, it'll say I am going 77-78, etc., I also noticed where my gauges seem a little off when I put in the CAN tool and put it in the correct configuration where it's supposed to show 80 mph, 4 tach, half fuel., etc but everything looks just a little off.. it'll say like 82-83mph, a bit more than half fuel,. etc. Does anyone know why this could be? Lastly, I checked codes today and one popped up. Since the meter doesn't look like it's hitting the number exactly like the above problems with it, I am kind of guessing at what it's telling me. I am reading it as 1 14(E) 4 12(C). I looked over the Bavarian list and nothing even starts with 1. HELP! Thanks! |

Did you configure the CAN tool for the N55?
here are the instructions from the CAN tool guide: "Setup for N55: The CT comes preset to N54 mode. If you have an N55 you must first change to N55 mode for the in dash gauges and shift light to work. Selecting option 15 will toggle between N54 mode and N55 mode. Select option 15 once to go to N55 mode. Select it again to toggle back to N54 mode." And a link to the guide: http://www.burgertuning.com/instructions/CANtool.pdf |

I actually went to see Terry at Burger Tuning to buy the JB Stage 1 and Can Tool a few months back so he set it up in N55 mode for me. I don't think anything has changed unless I accidentally changed it back to N54 which I doubt.

yeah its strange that your gauges would be off because of the JB1 though... maybe take it out to see if its really causing the issue.
I would double check the CAN tool's configuration as rborgia mentioned above to make sure you are in N55 mode. It is possible that you re-set it by accident, so wouldnt hurt to check it. |

I did a cluster reset and now everything is landing in the right places.
Now the code is showing clearly as 2E4C but isn't listed on the Bavarian code list. Does anyone have any clue what this code means? Thanks |

Dunno... Sounds like your 387F is a fault in your power system... You running a tune, or you stock?

I would remove the Jb3, Clear you codes, run for about a week (I know the lag will be unbearable) and recheck to see if any of the codes pop back up. If they do, then you know it's an issue with the car and not the tune. If they don't... Draw your own conclusions.
