afe dci melting?
anybody run into an intake pipe melting? I took my filters off to change them yesterday and the tube closes to the bumper was sucked in, like it got too hot and was dimpled in to where i had two one inch holes instead of a 6 inch hole. I heated it up to straighten it out, and just checked it and it is melted again, ill post pix when i put my stock box back on tomm...

Same here, I've had the intake for two years now without any issues. As a matter of fact I just installed the intake back two days ago, and it looked exactly the same as it did when I first got it.

Over 2 years on my AFE, no problems other than the filters seem to get dirty fairly quickly. No real source of excessive heat in that area, and the pipes coming off of the filters are very short - the rmainder of the pipe past the clamps is all original intake ducting.

it was a lot worse on saturday, but i took a heat gun to try to form it back, this is what it did in less than 24 hours, of course since it was already melted the first time im sure it comprimised the material, i wonder if AFE will replace it?

Having FMIC wouldn't make air going in the intake cooler. Cools it before it goes in the engine, not before it goes in the intake...

The intake will not see any pressure, just a vacuum.

I know, that's what I said. Intercooler goes in between the intake and the engine(throttle body), yes it goes after the turbos but the IC is still after DCI...which means that an intercooler would have no effect in making the air cooler that passes through the DCI.

Still...there's some excessive heat from somewhere on that side of the engine, plus there's a possibility that the clamp was tightened too strongly when the engine/intake pieces were hot. Judging by the shape of the deformity, it's exactly what you'd get when you compress an oval shape, especially when the bottom of the oval is the one getting the most heat.
