New car prep - Space Gray
Been out of the game a little bit, wanted to get some different opinions on the products I have at my house. When I get my new car, I definitely intend to detail it asap.
Interior: 1. Vacuum 2. Scottguard carpets 3. Lexol Leather Cleaner (I really want to try the Zaino stuff but I already have Lexol, not sure if it will actually make a difference). 4. Lexol Leather Conditioner Exterior: 1. Wash 2. Clay 3. Wash again 4. Here's where the different products come in. Should I use Klasse AIO for the first polishing step? I also have Clearkote's Vanilla Moose, I prefer it for it's shine. What do you think I should use first on a brand new car? Are there any benefits to using AIO on a brand new car as opposed to VM? Will I need something more abrasive than a cleaner/polishing pad combo on a brand new car (assuming I do not do dealer prep). I will be using a PC and probably be using the LC white pad. I have read different posts regarding "Pink Moose" on the Autopia forums and I'm not opposed to buying the Red Moose to mix in with the VM. 5. I have different sealants available. I have Wolfgang and EX-P. Will be applied either by hand or finishing pad (PC). 6. If I wanted to top with a carnuba, I have P21s and Meguiar's #16. 7. Wheel sealant 8. Possibly clear bra. What do waxes/sealants do you prefer on a Metallic/Silverish car? Of course, your answers will be subjective, but that's exactly what I'm looking for. ![]() Last edited by OC Guy; 03-28-2007 at 05:54 PM.. |

I use Meguiar's NXT Tech Spray or whatever it's called on my Jet Black but I think it should look good on any color. Also the 3 step Meguair's thing is amazing!
Also I plan to try Klasse AIO and SG this summer, I've heard nothing but good about those, I don't think you could go wrong with Klasse ![]()

There's a perfect new car prep sticky above posted by picus. He took delivery of a Space Grey E92 which matches your question almost exactly.

My e92 is sparkling graphite. Us purple car owners are very particular.
![]() OC 335i; if you use Pink Moose you will not be able to use a sealant. Pink Moose is almost 100% an aesthetic step. Not that that is a bad thing, just limits your LSP options. The benefit to using AIO instead of VM is that AIO is also a base sealant, so if you DO use a sealant you'll want to go with AIO. If you use a wax only (read further), I'd use VM. I'd personally go with either EX-P topped with P21S or just Megs #16. Megs #16 has similar durability to EX-P, so no need to use a sealant under it. In terms of looks, they will both look very good - and probably very similar. If you go with EX-P use AIO first, if you go with Megs 16 use VM first. I'd personally lean the VM/16 route, but that's just me. |

Thanks Picus, I think I'll follow your advice and go VM/#16. I haven't used #16 in awhile, the jar is basically new. It's a bit more work to take off but I love the results. Do you find #16 a bit of work compared to EX-P or is it just me?
p.s. Thanks, I won't buy more product and buy RMG. On a side note, do you have any experience with PB's World's Slick wash? I'm about to place an internet order since my NXT soap is getting low. I'm also considering Poorboy's World Bug Squash as well. |

You mean super slick suds? Ya, it's good stuff.
When you apply #16 are you applying in a small section then buffing off right away? If you do it that way it's easy; if you let it haze it's a nightmare. |

Sorry Kevin, I spaced on that one as I read your post on this and was reminded it was Sparkling Graphite.
