I just use my escort passport 9500ix for speed traps and red light cameras.

The 2011 navi DVDs for 2008 and back apparently have it. But I never found an option for it lol.

I made a right turn on a red light... and i noticed a camera... i wasn't blindingly going 50mph on a yellow light that's inevitably going to turn red... i drove by that intersection again and didn't notice a no turn on red sign so i might be good to go...

To stomp out some of the confusion....
Up until the LCI in 09 when they redid the nav (From what they call CCC to CIC), the Nav uses DVDs for it's maps. With the new module, the nav uses a VIN Matched HDD for it's maps. On Pre-LCI Cars, BMW (or someone making maps) updates the DVD for the maps almost yearly. This means that the 2011 discs are just maps updated in 2011. I have heard that they added camera locations to the 2011 discs, but I have the 2011 discs, and have been unable to find the option of cameras (although I live in Rochester, so there aren't that many here). Now, OP. Just putting the discs in for a short time will not permanently upgrade your nav. You need to keep those discs to keep the new features/maps (keep in mind this is ALL pre-LCI). You can get a torrent for the discs on this forum somewhere, just search 2011 nav disc torrent. Simply download it, then burn it to DVDs, and you're set. If you have a LCI nav, you need to go to the dealer and purchase the software upgrade, there is no way around it. |

I have a 2011 Eastern Region Nav Disc that i can sell you. Works perfect and has the option to display known speed traps and red light cameras. Send me a $$ offer. Keep in mind if you find a really cheap copy somewhere the disc label probably is a stick on label and when its real hot in your car can start to peal away from the disc and get stuck in your navi, the one I have is thermal printed to the disc.

Yeah, if you have CIC (the new one, which is much nicer btw) you can't just use a DVD. Need to go to the dealer and legitimately purchase a pack from them (unless patrys has figured something out, which I somewhat doubt) and have them install it. Easiest way to figure out if you have CIC is I believe the new units only have one DVD bay, whereas the old has a DVD and a CD bay. |

You need to reburn then every so often as well. I keep getting ring scotches in mine cuz of the bumpy roads an how the DVD laser constantly reads the DVD.
