Exhaust drone, help ideas....
I had magnaflow mufflers installed after the stock secondary cats. My 335 sounds much better upon throttle, but it drones pretty badly around 2000-2700 rpm.
What can I do to fix this? I want a little more growl than stock, but the droning stinks. 1. What can I do to keep the exhaust a little louder than stock yet without he annoying droning? |

in my research, there are ways to cancel out frequencies with long capped parallel pipe, but it has to be the perfect length. unless you're welding yourself, it's going to be expensive and tedious to experiment with this.
you can fool around with rubber dampers if you want. might come up with something innovative for the rest of us on the forum. someone mentioned those vibrant resonators helping with drone, but logically speaking i don't see how they would. sometimes experience trumps logic though. i think an exhaust like the eisenmann or bastuck (mine) that is virtually completely drone free would sound magical. i just don't feel like investing the time/money into figuring it out |

You will have drone with most aftermarket full exhausts no matter what some people claim. The only ones that wont are those dinan/bmw performance type ones where you weld them on from way back of the mid pipes even. Mine are straight form the downpipes like most systems and only drones in low rpm's but otherwise i love it.
To answer your question the cheapest/easiest is the stock exhaust with golf tee/solenoid pull |

SUPER SPRINT MUFFLERS. No drone at highway driving because they have a built in flap unit * just like the stock bmw exhaust * However when you open it up past 3K rpm it sounds almost as good as a muffler delete.
Can't believe nobody else even points these mufflers out! |

What about welding the flapper back in on with the magnaflow still on he drivers side and put he stock muffler on the passenger side. This way, flapper closes at low throttle and unleashes the magnaflow upon hard throttle?
Would this work? Do he flapper remain closed at low throttle even when the engine is warm? |

Get the AE exhaust..I will tell u there is no drone w it..do a search and see what other members have said Other than that since u r running stock cats which help w drone im not sure what else u can do w the magnaflows. Forget about normal weld on resonators..the only way to truly get rid of drone is w side resonator like this which is not feasible on a 335 |

Are you saying the ETS eliminates all the drone with the combination of the mufflers and the x-pipe?
When I bought my 08 335i, the previous owner had gone with the muffler delete and it drones fairly significantly between 1900 and 2400 RPM when cruising in 6th gear. |
