Almost $4000 to CPO a 08 328xi???
The wife's 2008 328xi sedan's 36month lease is up at the end of August. It's been perfect and has nice options including Xenon lights. Not a lot of them did. The car has 47k on it now. Premium package, Cold weather, ipod, sat. I just put new RFT's on it. We are going to be 14k over on miles so we will definitely buy it out. Lease end buyout is $24,700.
Our buyout today is 26,242 . I've spoken to a couple of dealers in central NJ and the CPO numbers we were told were ![]() $29895 and 28,818 + brakes. What's the deal? My client advisor no longer works at my dealer as of last month ![]() Anyone care to share experiences on recent lease buyouts? To turn the car in will cost over $3000 in mileage + termination fee so buying it out is a no brainer. |

Shouldn't the dealer give you a break down of the buyout?

Buy it out non-CPO. Get the dealer down on the pirce a little bit; (http://www.bankrate.com/finance/auto...yout-deal.aspx) And then, since you are under 50,000 miles, call different dealers and get an estimate over the phone. Most of them will just need your VIN and form of payment, that's how it was with my dads Mercedes ML500. Good luck! Whatever you do, do not pay 4,000 for a CPO! It should be around 2-2,500 with the mark up!

A gold extended warranty equivalent to CPO (6/100) is about $3400 from what I read. Neither dealer I contacted was interested in giving me a price over email. With the $1200 incentive on the first 3 payments and my $250 club bonus, the CPO will be cheaper even at these inflated rates.

saw this on the front page and wanted to chime in.
I got a cpo 335 and it costs 2k to cpo it... not 4k.

$4k for a CPO is way too high. I CPO'ed my car at the end of my lease and it was just a little over $2k and that included a new set of run flats.

Ok based on the info given how did they arrive at your residual plus 4K as the final buyout with CPO? It should be broken down or was that a phine quote? It could be the CPO cost plus repairs to bring it up to CPO standard so if it needs brakes all around I can see part of the discrepancy being the cost of the brake job. Is there any other pending maintenance items. I know when I negotiate my buyout I doubtI will CPO simply because of the cost of RFT's since it won't pass without those and am not running them anymore. Wouldbe interesting to see the breakdown of cost.

The car still has it's factory warranty correct? Why not take it to have the brakes fixed (and any other issues) under warranty and wait another month before you purchase the car.
And is that $29895 the final number including taxes and fees? |

They told me the 29895 did not include tax.
The only issue is front pads are down to about 6mm, so I'll just change them myself. Otherwise the car is perfect mechanically. I'm going to ask the guy to break things down after all of your stories of CPO's for ~2k. Thanks |

$21919: BMW's sell price to us
$1360: CPO Charge $200: Shop time $1200: Profit Total: $24,679 (assuming no brakes and tires). Dealer won't give me an out the door price over email, they want me to bring the car in. I don't know what additional registration/transfer fees they will charge. If I add 7% for NJ DMV that is $26,406. My buyout is $23,069. $3300++ for a CPO is a non starter for me. |

I supposedly got my car CPO'ed at cost which they told me was $1260 with only 7k miles (dealer demo, i'm titled as the first owner). I also bought it on ebay from a reputable dealer in FL. Everything worked out perfectly almost a year later.
