Burning mp3 CD ??

I made an mp3 CD using the free download Acoustica software. I think I could scroll through all the songs / artists in our Cayenne, but when I played it in my E93 w/i-drive, only about 5 songs at a time would display and only the artist name would display. At the bottom of the list it would stop. If I chose the last song, then the next 5 would show up.

So the question is, are any special settings do I need to display the complete artist and song name and be able to scroll the whole CD at once? What software program is needed? I know it's possible, since LEDZEP posted a picture of the i-drive screen showing this.

Thanks for your help.

Keep turning the idrive knob, even after you feel resistance. Dont worry, you wont break it...

It could have something to do with the software you used and/or options set when you burned the CD. I'm not the resident expert on burning the CDs, but if you have the ID tag information in all the tracks it should behave properly.

I am able to scroll up and down the list as I wish. Of course, iDrive will only show as many as will fit in the window, but the scrolling is dynamic.

Have you tried a regular CD? Just curious of the difference you might have with that - as most CDs will have 10-12 tracks. I haven't done that yet. I have only used the one MP3 CD so far.

I don't think ID3 tags have anything to do with it. I'm having the same problem with my MP3 files as well as when I switch to Sirius and try to display all channels. I am only able to browse the first 5 channels before meeting resistance from the idrive knob. I'm going in for service to update my idrive software tomorrow. I'll let you know if this solves the problem.

Yeah, could be the haptic feedback then. I have the new iDrive with no haptic feedback.

OK, what is haptic feedback? I thought I did have it with the new i-drive. When I get to the end of any list in i-drive, there's resistance, like you're over-stretching something; I don't think I want to force it to turn more.

With Sirius, when I choose all stations, I can continuously scroll. Otherwise, I could never have gotten to 184 to activate it, as I don't know what category it's in. Once, I was up to like 125 and it went back to 1.

May have to copy our mp3 discs, LED, and trade them to see what happens. I'll try a regular CD and also check it again in the Cayenne.

drkeng - the haptic feedback is resistance in the controller provided by tiny servos that are driven by the menu system. The concept was to make the feel of the controller intuitive so you'd know when you at the end of a menu list, etc. but it didn't always work that way. With the March 2007 production version of iDrive they have eliminated the haptic feedback in whole or in part.

Do you have a March build? Do you have the programmable buttons?
