Wastegate rattles are normal on these cars. I honestly cant hear any on yours though. Mine does for the first min or two of driving, and I can only hear it when in a garage off a wall. Then after its warmed up, its gone.

+1, wastegates seem to be a hit and miss on these cars. I had my adjusted and replaced by the dealer. I didn't think Cobb has an adjustment for Wastegates but I could be wrong. Try to adjust the wastgates by yourself if you can work on car.

hmmm, I used to only hear the rattle when I start my engine for the first minute or so when I rev. Now I hear it the whole time. I will go back to stock map take a video to compare so you see what I mean because I dont have the rattle in stock settings.

Just wondering if anyone else with cobb has noticed this or if I am the first.

From what I rmr reading, and someone may need to confirm this.

That the BMW oem software keeps the wastegate opened to prevent rattling, and the Cobb keeps it closed, so it can create back pressure, but you'll hear the rattling as a downside.

My 2007 has the same issue, well not sure if it really is an issue. Without Cobb installed I get minimum to no rattle, but when installed I have a very prominent rattle from the stock exhaust.

As metionted before, BMW halfass fix for the rattle was a software update which opens the gates 45 seconds or so after warm up.

The Cobb overwrites the software to how it should be closed wastegates, unfortunately due to the poor design they get loose and rattle.

By keeping the gates open it causes lag, that is why many have complained about the power after getting the software update.

Grab two wrenches and tighten up the wastegate. Takes 10min and gets rid of the rattle.

This does not work all the time. I have to make myself a tool to grip the actuator arm itself because the mm is so small I couldn't find anyone who sold a wrench.

This only works for the rear not the front wastegate.

Wastegates are at different positions between stock and tuned thus the difference in noises between the 2.

Right now you cant adjust your wastegate position with Cobb. Something like the PROcede can though.

You would need for it to worsen on a stock map before the dealer does anything about it unfortunately or try adjusting it yourself using the DIY guide by Mr.5 at your own risk.

58K 07 335 obviously out of warranty. Now you can accept the lag or try adjusting or just learn to ignore the noise. It doesn't sound that bad OP. You should hear some of the ones I have heard. Mine was so bad everyone even old ladies would notice and tell me something was wrong with my car. I laughed it off told them it was normal, but turned out my Turbos were bad too not just the waste-gates.

I have 100k / Jan '14, I bought an extended warranty that is only $200 for any repair done at the dealer, however since it is not persistent on stock ecu settings I dont want to have them void my warranty when they see it with a tune.

also this may seem like a very dumb question and Im pretty sure I already know the answer... Will installing any aftermarket parts such as DPs/Exhaust or BOV stuff like that get rid of the noise.

this is a better video showing the noise coming from the engine and not the exhaust...

With full bolt on, you will still hear the rattle because it comes on while decelerating. Exhaust tone will not cover the rattle.

im pretty excited to say that i just installed the newest maps and the ACN91 acts very similar to stock wastegate settings.

anyways I'm very please to say that when my engine is warm i don't hear the constant rattle during revs and deceleration.

anyone know where i can find more info on what the ACN91 map actually does?

I checked cobbs website and forums but couldn't come up with anything related to BMW.
