Sidekick 2 bluetooth adapter?
I currently have the sidekick 2 phone from tmobile and love it, i am going to purchase my 325i later this month and was wondering if i were to get this product , http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/NA/EN/...A210/JabraA210 , would my phone be compatible with the bluetooth installed in the car?
Thanks for your help. |

I don't know if this will work. The website you posted has a data sheet for the product that states that it will enable any cell phone with Jabra A21 Bluetooth adapter to provide "connectivity to any Jabra Bluetooth headset ." However, I am not familiar with this product, so I could be wrong. The data sheet is found at http://www.jabra.com/NR/rdonlyres/54..._Datasheet.pdf

I've linked this thread to someone on Bimmerfest. I think he's a BT guru.

Ok, the answer is, it won't work. Devices like this do not support this necessary Bluetooth Profiles that the BMW (or any car's system) require. Bluetooth is relatively common today (as opposed to a few years ago) so you should be able to easily find a new mobile that supports Bluetooth - look at the BMW microsite for mobiles which have been tested at http://www.bmwtransact.com/bluetooth/

Couldn't you get a duplicate SIM card and keep it in a second BT phone? If you get the flashlight socket adapter then you could have a fully charged phone in the glovebox at all times. You turn off your regular phone, get in the car, and power up your secondary phone. I think it's pretty easy to copy your SIM card.
By the way, I got my new BT phone from eBay. It's a Motorola V551 and it took the sim card from my old Nokia with no problem. It cost me $200 out the door....but it was new. I think you could buy a used one for less. THe V551 is fully integrated including the phonebook. Once you start using the phonebook in the car then nothing else will do...trust me.

how would i go about getting a copy of my sim card? because that idea sounds ideal, much easier than having to replace the sim card whether im in the car or on the run.
