Free Oil Change on your car's birthday???

I've had my 330I for one year now and have 24000 kms.
I contacted the dealer to inquire about my free oil change, however they said
that they'll only give me a free oil change when the vehicle's service indicator comes on.

My service indicator still says I have 7000 kms to go.

I wanna hear your stories, and if all dealers (especially in Ontario) are saying the same thing to you or is it just my dealership.

Has anyone got their free oil change after one year in Ottawa?

I got my free oil change after one year with 15000km on the car.

Funny enough I called to book an oil change after 9 months and 12000km on the car and was willing to pay for it cause I did not want to wait till I reached 25000km but the service advisor I talked to on the phone at the dealership suggested I wait the 3 more months to get the oil change for free regardless if the mileage was under 25000km. This was at BMW Durham which is also owned by the same folks that own Parkview BMW (where I got the car from). Hope this helps.

BMW Durham said the same thing to me when I called. I even offered to pay until they told me it was going to be over $150. Funny thing is when I first picked up the car the CA told me to get it done at 7000km. I'm going to do it myself anyways but will get the oil and filter from the parts desk.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't know why some dealerships are being difficult and it's too bad
there's no set standard on this issue.

Damn...am I driving my car too hard? I have only 14,000 km on the clock and my service indicator says I'm overdue for an oil change. Booked it with my dealership already. Hmmm...

I thought this to be the case as well.

My 1 year will be in late May, so I just emailed my SA and copied my CA to get the scoop. I'll post their reply.

A response from my CA:

Quote:
Hi Paul,

Hard to believe that a year has passed!

Not sure if Andy's responded to you or not but...

You are right, it's time for an oil service and checkup for your 330i. We are starting to see the cars go even longer than 24,000 kms before they need the service, but Craig in service assures me that it's best to bring the car in at least once a year.

Cheryl

Hi Andrew,

My e90 330i will be one year old next month. My understanding of the service plan is that the regularly scheduled maintenance is to occur at the earlier of 1 year or 24,000 kms, and that this regularly scheduled service is free (well, included in the purchase price) for the first four years.

If you can confirm my understanding of the service agreement, I'll look at booking an appointment for late May.

Thanks,
Paul

From my SA:

Yes, your understanding is correct, we will do a yearly service and your
motor vehicle inspection at the same time. Just let us know what day you
want to come in.

My SA told me that I shouldn't wait until the free oil change. He said if I plan to buy out the car after the lease ends, I should do it every 10,000km at most.

So if my dealer is still refusing to do it, can I go to another dealer to get this done, or would they refuse as well since I didn't buy the car from them??

It shouldn't matter which dealer you go to for service. However, if you're dealer is refusing to do it, I'd threaten to bring this information to BMWNA, or BMW Canada or someone.

Also, check all the fine print in all of your sales documents, I'm sure it talks about the service plan somewhere in there.
