FMIC - What to cut???
Does anyone have any pics of their car after the upgraded FMIC install (doesnt matter what brand)? I mean pics of how it looks after you cut it, in order to install the IC.
I want to see if its really THAT bad .....cutting the plastic to fit the aftermarket intercooler. If anyone has any pics of the cut parts, after re-installing the stock intercooler, that would be great too. Im trying to figure out EXACTLY what would need to be cut, in order to fit an AA intercooler. ANY PICS of anything related would be great...I'm sure i can get an idea from any pics... Also, does anyone know iff the part you cut would be hard or expensive to replace? Thanks, V |

AA intercooler will closely resemble the cutting necessary from Big Tom's intercooler. There is a good amount.
All intercoolers have different fitment and some with no need for cutting. |

Just take the bumper off try fitting it and you'll see how much you need to cut , it's just the shroud in front of the fmic , you can just cut the whole front shroud it'll make it easier and it doesn't support anything so you're good, plus it looks better that way.

even if the entire thing needs to be cut, it is still not a big job. so, even in the worst case scenario, it won't be a job that involves a lot of cutting and hacking. |

I dont care if its hard or a lot of work or anything like that...just worried about going back to stock in a jiffy. If you cut the part, you need to replace it to go back to stock...If that is the case, i want to know if its expensive to replace. Know what im sayin? |

Nope not mine, but in there I believe it shows what gets cut, so before you cut it go to realoem or a BMW dealer and price it out and keep one on hand.

Hey man never can tell w/ the internet and people on here (esp.) sometimes.
I have thought about mods a couple times (FMIC is also on my list) as I have a shop that is very proficient w/ welding etc.. if I wanted to have a custom one made or even an install done that I would want the parts on hand to replace. |

Based on your posts, I would recommend that you just get one of the FMICs that don't require cutting.
