split second turbo tuner?
Does anyone have any experience with the split second turbo tuner? I've been around for a while and I've NEVER seen this mentioned. To be honest it looks like a jb+ at a jb4 price. :shrugs: http://store.bimmerworld.com/split-s...535-p1116.aspx

used one for 20k miles. For $80 used, its like $2-3 per hp you get out of it. Car drove like stock with a little more juice. If you want a cheap tune, thats the way to go for sure.

do not buy it new.
jb+ can go more boost and is adjustable. Its usually runs about twice as much. But be warned, if you buy one of these, you will be back for more in less than 6 months. |

I'm getting the cobb AP in a couple months, I just stumbled across this and I was just wondering about it. After this little discussion, I'm not against getting this used to tide me over till I get the AP...
Edit: I just realised that the abbreviation is SSTT and I've actually seen many people list this as a mod, my bad lol Last edited by rader1; 06-21-2011 at 11:12 PM.. |

I've got one - the 2nd version, which is adjustable - sitting on a shelf in my garage. It can add up to 4lb. boost, with no other adjustments. It plugs in at the Manifold Pressure sensor connection. I suspect that this and the JB+ may be identical. PM me if you want mine for a very reasonable price.

UPDATE: Ok, first of all props to dirtmaster for the speedy shipping of the SSTT. Secondly, I've had it on the car for a week now, assuredly its done with the adaptation, and there is absolutely no difference as far as I can tell. I mean I wasn't expecting much, but I was hoping for atleast something. My schedule will be more open in a couple weeks and ill be heading to the dyno, I'm curious to see what has changed.

Yeah, but $100 really isn't a big gamble and id give it a shot just purely for a little bit of first hand knowledge. Id be super pissed though if I had bought it new at $600 lol hopefully the AP will be coming the end of the month

I think you would be happier with the JB+ but I would just get the Cobb from the Get-go.
I'm a PM away if you have any questions on either. |

Yep, battery was unplugged and I let it set for well over 1/2 an hour. And from what I've read; putting the ecu to sleep just lessens the time it takes to adapt, but I may be wrong there. The only thing I can think is that it has been hot and humid this week and possibly that almost cancelling out the effect. Like I said, no big deal I wasn't expecting much. I know I've gotta get a real tune to really feel a difference.
