Tire/Wheel Question for my 2008 E90
Hey Everyone,
I am new to the forum and recently bought a 2008 335XI (non-sport) sedan. The car came with OEM 17" wheels and I wanted to upgrade to 18"s. I had to bring the car into BMW last week for a faulty amp and was talking to the service department about the OEM style 162 rims (these come staggered, I am also looking at VMR 18's) and they told me not to put these on the car. According to BMW, putting staggered 18's on the E90 sedan will result in extreme tire wear and also could affect/damage the AWD system. Is there any validity to this? Has anyone been told the same thing? I guess I could get away with the same size rim/tire on all 4 but I was really hoping to get a more aggressive stance with the rims and tires being flush with the bumpers. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone. |

Plenty of Xi owners are currently running staggered set ups with no issues, so you can have a staggered set up on your car if you like. Most dealerships will only recommend alternative factory set ups. So if you want a staggered set up, go ahead and go for it!

Thanks Gerry. I wasn't sure if it was just a sales ploy for me to buy a factory set up or if they were telling the truth.
Is there a specific wheel size you would recommend for that aggressive look? I see alot of people have 8's in the front and 8.5's in the back. I guess I also need to figure out the offset? Recommendations? |
