Clay vs klasse
this comes because i feel there may have been an issue with my last coat of klasse
i discovered a spot on the passeneger side that had what looked like spots of soapy water that had dried, it didnt come off with washing rubbing or anything so i reached the conclusion that somehow it was under my last coat of klasse (which was after a first which i had clayed before hand and was perfect) so i got out the clay and started at it, well it took me a LOT of rubbing to get the spots off (like a 1 inch by one inch area) im assuming this is because clay doesnt really shred through klasse very well (since its point is to lift protruding particles out of clear coats) i was thinking about claying the whole car over again and re applying for the above reason and because its lost its initial properties already (probably do to high pressure washing even though i always try to wash at an extreme angle rather then spray directly at the car) but im wondering if it will get through the klasse at all (i guess i dont really have to, i just feel like starting from scratch) anyway ?

Clay should get through Klasse fine, at least AIO. Which Klasse are you talking about? AIO? SG? Which clay bar are you using?

I'm pretty sure I've got the same paint contamination you've got...
It looks like water spots, but you can only see it at extreme angles.. mine also happens to be on the passenger side. I clayed the whole car, no TOO aggressively, and got much of it out, but not all.... give it a go. |

when im washing my car (and drying it after its "clean") i get little spots while wiping that are dark compared to other areas too (kinda like dried water drops again) it looks like the water kinda stuck in that area and not the rest (but theres no real volume of water, think after you wipe with a slightly wet microfibre towel) i dont know, sometimes i wish someone would take pics off all the weird things in car washing/detailing with an explanation of wtf it is and if its an issue

Two things... If you're trying to get through the Klasse and concerned the clay won't do it, try 50/50 alcohol/distilled water. I'm pretty sure Picus said that will remove the sealant(though I think he said clay will too). Then , you're at the beginning in that area and you can clay, AIO to remove problems. I had water spots on mine and tried a distilled vinegar/distilled water bath. Then dawned, AIO and SG X3. That worked great.
I know the feeling of just wanting to do the whole car. When I get an area that pisses me off, after washing, I'll just take AIO to the area then reseal with SG. As for Klasse wearing thin, I was using Meguiar's Gold and ran out. Target ran out too so I grabbed some Meguiar's NXT. I've noticed my car doesn't sheet like it used to. The water used to fly off, now it still sheets, but sure takes its time. I was told NXT has cleaners in it that will remove the sealant over time. Short version, check your shampoo. |
