Hi All,
Has anyone bought a new car through Broadspeed?
I'm pricing a new 640i convertible and they're a good 10% cheaper than BMW, plus the fact that my dealer has offered me £43k for my 535d which, going by what's currently on the AUC website, they'll put it on the forecourt for at least £48k.
The figures show a saving of around £13k if I sell privately and buy through Broadspeed. It's very tempting, but there must be one or two pitfalls, not the least of which would be any warranty issues.
I'd be grateful for any info good or bad - thanks.

I've a lot of time for Broadspeed. Whilst not actually having bought a car from them, I got 80% down the road towards a sale for an elderly friend before she bottled out because I said the word "Internet".
Broadspeed were very helpful indeed, and whilst they wouldn't name the local dealer the car would be coming from, they assured me it would be local (this was for a Renault Clio).

As you say, they are very reasonable cost-wise, and they certainly were the cheapest I could source a Clio at the time.

I have bought 2 new cars from brokers, one I had to collect from Doncaster, the other was delivered. I had no warranty issues with either car - the local dealer was quite happy to do any work required. Indeed, on my wifes ex-car (a Scenic), the dealer not only carried out recall work when the car was in for a service, he pointed out a couple of things that would be fixed under warranty for her.

I am currently searching for an E91 335d, around 2-3 years old, which I would expect to rush me about £26k. I am seriously wondering if I should spend another £8k (which I don't really want to do!) and get a new one from Broadspeed complete with the extras that I want - bearing in mind that the BMW network want nearer £40k for a used 2011 model.

Jon, warranty is not an issue, you still buy from a main dealer, they just organise the discount for you. You basically get fleet discount buying one car.

As others have said brokers just source a Car from a Main Dealer at fleet discount and pass that on to you for a small fee (so in effect same as buying from any BMW dealer regarding warranty part ex etc)

Can you not take a print out/screen print from Broadspeed down to your local dealer and say 'match that'??? No skin off the dealers nose is it - a dealer somewhere is doing it at that price (and still making a profit) so you're only asking another dealer (perhaps the same one) to price-match.

I did this when I bought my S2000, took a print off from a similar website, after a fair bit of huffing and gruffing, agreed (as long as I parted with a deposit there and then).

Yes of course, that's exactly what I was planning on doing, but thanks for the input.

Many thanks to all for the constructive replies; I didn't realise that the car was delivered to a local dealership. In my case, that's John Clark, Aberdeen and I've been extremely impressed with their service department, so it's good to know I'll still get the same level of support.

looking at some of those discounts makes me wonder how far off some of the used prices are on Autotrader and stealer forecourts

It may not be your local dealer that is supplying the car. Broadspeed will select the dealer they prefer which may be close to you or car may be delivered to you. Either way its a BMW UK car so you are free to service and get warranty work done wherever you want which can be your local.
