Replaced all injectors. Rough idle eliminated. High idle RPM eliminated.

So lucky me, the BMW injector recall check determined that all my injectors needed to be replaced

The car ran perfectly until now, I had no complaints, I have never got a misfire code and I have never felt a misfire or misbehaviour on my car, even after I was tuned with GIAC Stage 2. I was even a bit reluctant to change all the injectors.

The only "problems" were that the idle had some little "bumps" in it, it was not perfectly smooth. Also, when the car was warmed up, the idle RPM was 800 instead of the usual 650 (with AC on).

After changing all six injectors, the idle is absolutely perfect, and even after multiple wots and a lot of warm-up the idle never climbed above 650RPM. The car runs like the day I got it from the dealer

My theory for the high idle RPM is that if the ECU "feels" bumps or misfire-like behaviour at idle, it raises the idle speed to 800RPM. This is enforced (in my mind) by the fact that on another local 335i the idle raises to 800RPMs only if the AC is not on (so the idle speed is very low like 600RPM, favoring the small misfire-like bumps at idle).

I also could not induce bog on upshifting no matter how much I tried, but it happened very rarely anyway.

Obviously not everyone can have the injectors replaced, but I am not sure that some injector cleaner treatment like Chevron Techron can help with the problem (like outlined here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532330 )

I was under the impression that the injector recall wasn't available in europe? Don't have any issues with mine, but still would be nice to know if there was a recall available.

Interesting. My injectors were replaced under the recall, but I still have a rough idle on cold start.

Great to know. I'm hoping that they'll do the same for my car when I go in because of misfires in about 10 days.

that's nice to hear. I have the same issue but my injectors are not covered in the recall. I will try Techron, maybe it really works for the injectors.

Those that are having misfires, does it throw codes for them?

Having same issue as the OP slight bumps when car is idling 1 every 5 mins or so.

I'm not under warranty anyway to use logging at idle to detect the cylinder that is misfiring? I have Cobb for logging?

I replaced one injector and coil on the weekend Cylinder # 5 since that plug was wet with gas and fouled and the others were ok.

still have the issue although it is better but now I don't have any clues as to which other cylinder is having issues as well.

I can't speak for others, but mine did, yes. Threw a misfire code for cylinder 4.

I've had all my injectors replaced without questions asked. I also replaced the coils just as a precaution.

I had 5 out of 6 injectors replaced on the factory recall (in Germany), and temporarily it idled butter-smooth (for a few weeks), but after a while the small "bumps" came back. I had my HPFP replcaed at ~81k km and the injectors at ~90k km. I'm now @ 100k km and it's still running/pulling strong.
I've never had a misfire code, even with the HPFP failure.
