Cat D 335d E91
On AT at the moment GL56 OTW
335d Touring, Grey, Nav, Leather, Xenons, 50k on clock with full service history, but a Cat D. I've always ran away from any advert which say Cat D, but was just curious this time and so rang the owner who sounds genuine. Selling as has a RS4. Think he mentioned being in hire company so in the trade of some sort and again got the RS4 as a light damage repair. Anyway the 335d he said spoke to the previous owner via V5 details to get the details, as he brought from auction as non runner at about 20k. Apparently only engine damage and replacement due to flooding it in deep water, but didn't get in side the car. Could be a good buy for someone, as I'm sure the price will come down further if he can't shift, but obviously will be only worth what the new buyer thinks and the seller prepared to shift it. However what is strange to me is that a circa 3yr old 335d with 20k on the clock got written off by the insurance company due to flooding the engine/ damaging the engine by water and not fixing it. Looks a nice motor though

Behave.....
Was 12.5k and we seriously SERIOUSLY considered it. Lovely looking thing and with 35d power to boot but just didn't like the cat d bit. Seems it was driven into a puddle so the story matches what I was told. Seems like a decent chap to be honest, proper Geordie but then I seem like a decent chap and sell fucked 20d's as a sideline A |

Surely any category cars is a write off from the insurance sense, as they have paid out value of car and not repair, but obviously not a total write off for road use.
'Category D' means the car you are looking at has been written off at some point in its life - and you're right to think very carefully before going ahead with the purchase. Having said that, Category D listed vehicles can legally be repaired and returned to the road - the insurance company has just decided it wouldn't make financial sense to do so.

Id be weary that it was flood damage....
The electrics could have water in them - and that could get messy over time as things corrode etc.
