Palmolive dishwashing liquid for car wash

Hey guys, I've heard a lot of good things about washing cars using palmolive soap. I just wanted to make sure and be aware of any damages that might occur after using this soap.
Is it really better than lot of car wash soaps that are sold in stores? If not, what is a decent car wash solution that I can use for myalpine white baby?

Do a 'Dawn' search on any of the detailing forums, as a one-off to strip wax as prep for a polishing detail its fine, but not as a regular car wash

Like two posts above, it will strip the wax off of your car.

NO NO NO NO It will remove all traces of wax and also and lubricants from door hinges etc including teflon and graphite. unless you want to start from scratch with the wax and lube programme leave well alone.

Sadly Infiniti actually recommends dishwashing liquid in the G owner's manual:

I still think it's a horrible idea though... just shocked they would print that in the owner's manual.

Dishwashing soap is a great way to completely strip all of the dirt and wax any anything else that may have stuck to you paint. After that you should clay bar the car then rewash and if you have any paint problems like swirl marks, small scratches etc. fix them with compound or polish depending on how bad the problem is. Once all that is finished you then fully wax your car for a very good wax coating and your car will really shine well. Besides that NEVER wash your car with dish soap.

Use a normal car wash soap or car wash shampoo.

i think were all forgetting what the main part of the question is and the answer is: YES it is an awesome car wash. Unfortunately its too good and will strip your sealant and wax like crazy, so don't do it! (good stuff though to prep the car before a detail)

I used to use it all the time because all I did was full on paint corrections...its good at stripping everything...

HOWEVER, I just started using chemical guys wash and clear at the stripping dilution ratio and DAMN, its almost better, and safer for the seals and whatnot. Its designed for car use, not dish use! I've switched and will be keeping the DAWN under the sink!

Well we have all had our say! so what should you be using?

Autoglym http://www.autoglym.com/enus/ I have been using their products for the last 20 odd years, they are recomended by the majority of detailers in Europe. Expensive but they do exactly what it says on the Tin, can, squeezy bottle, tube.

Just another reason to buy a bmw over an infiniti. lol. wow am I glad I went with a 335i over an infiniti G37. Sure it costs a little more, but no regrets at all.

Since you are in Cali and so is Chemical Guys I would strongly suggest using their wash soaps. Also their MaxiSuds one is on sale now a gallon for $12 and all you need is 3 caps fulls for a full wash bucket lasts a long time when using personally.
