Well that sure blew the hell out of what I was thinking. I am suprised there are not more responses. But maybe we dont change the oil on these 335's
I change the oil in my GT3 every 3 thousand miles (or every other track event which have been far and few between-lately)and have used Mobil one
15-50 for all my cars and race bikes. There is alot of debate on the "new" mobil forumalation and alot of GT3 trackers are thinking of changing away from Mobil one. now that the 15-50 red cap is the the extended life gold cap.
Not to mention its hard to find 15-50 for us desert dwellers. Thanks Shiv.

It also only tests 1 aspect

Thanks for the information,

I have concerns about testing like this, and I come from a product testing background when I say that. I am not sure what they are demonstrating there. Anyone can come up with a test that one product will pass and others will fail, but it may not be real world.

With that said and do not shot me when I say:

Comsumer reports did a test of oils a number of years back. They took 150 new engines and took them apart and measured everything and then put the engines in New York Cabs and let them put 150k miles on the engines. They tested different types and manufactures of oil and intervals of changing the oil.

Their findings were that all the engines shows about the same amount of wear. But some had more or less slough build up. So the conclusion was that some oils were better then others but not worth the extra cost, and changing oil every 3K miles was not necessary.

If someone can find the report I think it is more realistic than this test. Before anyone

me, their results are for everyday driving. We know that some oils hold up better and longer under higher temps like racing and the such.

Ive been debating on switching to Royal Purple in my m3 for a while. Looks like Ill have to go try it now.

This article isn't even worth the bandwidth I used to transfer it to my computer. They are claiming to prove an oil's worth from a marginally useful test, a single parameter.

i think its many years old aswell, of which synthetic oil has taken massive steps

Yes, your rigth, I could not remember the oil that first used that test on TV.

Last time I checked I do not try and grind a bearing on a rotating shaft as hard as I can.

This is one for the Mythbusters, we should have them unvail the real truth here.
