Worth getting 5-year servicing package ?
I've just bought a new 325i and the dealer is offering a 5-year "Service Inclusive" package for around $2600.
The car will be driven by my wife, and is only likely to do around 8,000 km per year. I've no idea about the likely servicing costs for a 3 series, but based on the low km's and the CBS system, I suspect (or hope) we wouldn't be visting the dealer very often in the first few years... Is this servicing package just a moneypit for the dealers, or do you think its worth getting ? |

smells like the old 'would you like extended warranty'
not for me, if it breaks i'll send the wife and kids down there to pester till they give me a new one and if that doesn't work then they get grandma and granddad as well |

Hmm. 325i, 8000km/year, gently driven, based on my costs to date and expected requirements over 5yrs I'm thinking:
2 brake fliud services - $320 3 oil services - $540 1 air filter change - $120 2 pollen filters - $240 2 vehilce checks - $280 Spark plugs - $250 (?) I get $1750 - I might have missed something but doubt it would be much. I presume it wouldn't cover brake pads and rotors, not that you'd get through a set in 40k anyway.

Thanks guys. I've done a bit of digging, and what the dealer was offering was "Service Inclusive Plus" which does include pads, disks, and wipers.
http://www.bmw.com.au/com/en/owners/...ackages_1.html Based on the advice given above, I'm inclined to keep cash for myself and sell the car after 3 years (definitely before needing disks/pads anyway). |

Yes too dear, you'd be better off buying your own parts from overseas and having the dealer fit them, thus just paying for labour in order to keep your service history. I wouldn't sign up to it.

But the brake fluid change was only $88. So the total isn't much different to the $1750 Given the brakes and front rotors on mine will need doing very soon, the $2600 would have been worth considering for me. Was there a km limit on the package?

We have one person already paying $225 and another $300 for an oil and filter change.... is this the norm? What is the typical cost at a dealer for a oil and filter service only??
