Can someone help me decode a VIN for options list?

Hi guys im new to the forum. I used to be on e46fanatics as I had an e46 but now in the market for an e93. Might buy one this week and wanted to know the options for a car that I'm interested in. The vin number is WBAWL72000JZ95667. Can anyone help? Cheers in advance..

VIN cant tell what options the car has only that it is a 11/2007 e93 335i.

You would need to get a VO dump from the cars CAS module to know the full list of options fitted, but then you could just look at what the car has installed.

Or just ask the seller?

Your wrong. On BMW's dealer ASAP website amongst other things such as EBA guides, they list every BMW made and the options for each car.

If you get on really well with a dealer they will give it to you, but normally they won't if you don't own the car.

If you have a friend at a dealer either in parts or sales, they can punch in the last 7 digits. This will give them all the information about the car. Even if you don't know anybody personally at a dealer, a polite request might do the trick. It literally is just enetering the 7 digit VIN and thats it. Takes 30 sec.

1st Page:
  • Model
  • week, month, year of manufacture
  • Date of despatch from Germany
  • date of delivery to Australia
  • invoice date
  • if it was transferred from another dealer
  • who the dealer was that delivered the car to the customer was
  • Date of customer delivery
  • exterior colour
  • interior colour
2nd Page:
  • Standard Options; including all car options that are required for australian delivery
  • Extra options
  • Options to be dealer fitted
options are detailed using BMW's 3 character designations and associated descriptions; 6FL - USB AUDIO, etc.

The print out that you get is usually a black and green DOS type printout, but they can also be windows based. This info is basically your cars DNA so to speak. You will then know if the previous owner has changed anything and/or retrofitted/removed parts from the car.
